Northstar Commuter Rail is Almost Here!
I've had lots of inquiries from prospective home buyers who are looking at homes for sale and rental real estate in areas along the rail line and they have lots of questions about our new commuter rail system. Having grown up in Chicago, I was used to trains being part of our public transit system so I am really excited for the Twin Cities to be getting a commuter rail system up and going.
For those of us who drive I-94 or US-10 it will be SO NICE to have this option. And for everyone who can't ride the train, don't dismay, for each person riding the train that means one less person on the highway! If you are looking for specific information on schedules, routes, construction updates, and the latest news, just click on the photo.
I was on my way to a showing appointment in Big Lake when I noticed the new train was sitting at the Big Lake station. It is a neat looking, big blue, yellow, and white double-decker train that looks like it has room for at least a several hundred people. I wish I had the time to stop and take a picture of it right then and there. Afterwards, I went by the Big Lake Station and unfortunately, it was gone by then. So click on the link above if you want to check out the train!

Minneapolis St Paul Area Housing Report
for August 2009 from the Monthly Skinny
Looking for the latest information on the Minneapolis Saint Paul Twin Cities Real Estate Market? Well check out "The Monthly Skinny" video report from the Minneapolis Area Association of Realtors. This information in the video is based on homes for sale and recent home sales in the local Twin Cities market and is a great way to keep up with the rapid changes in our market!
Don't forget, if you want to try to take advantage of the federal tax credit for first time home buyers, you need to be CLOSED by November 30th. With the new laws affecting closings, you'll want to give yourself at least 45-55 days from the time you sign a purchase agreement; and even longer if it is a short sale, bank owned, or special loan (like Rural Development).

Are you relocating to Saint Paul or moving to a new neighborhood? Here are some great St Paul Neighborhood Links and other real estate information for St Paul!
Sometimes prospective home buyers ask real estate agents to tell them about the ethnic makeup of a neighborhood, where particular religious communities are, what is the family status of the neighboors, or how safe an area is before they purchase a home.
Now I love to be helpful but answering these questions directly would result in discrimination and I firmly believe that everyone is just as good as everyone else. Not to mention that it would violate both state and federal laws. So I refer them to public resources via internet links. Here are links for Saint Paul Minnesota that I recently complied for a prospective client. They are in no certain order and are certainly not a complete list, but this will give you a starting point for questions about neighborhoods.
As a full service real estate agent, I consider providing information as a major part of my mission and because I have a very strong "C" type behaviorial style (DISC), I actually enjoy providing these resources. So I never really considered this as "extrordinary"; its "just part of the service"! But recently I've had several people tell me how helpful this was to them and I thought I would start blogging about these resources. Each time I do a new area, I will blog them here, so check back often.
As your REALTOR, my goal is to make YOU the MOST INFORMED Buyer or Seller in your neighborhood!
