city of nixa

I grew up in Kansas and my husband is from South Carolina, so how did we end up in Nixa, MO? You would be surprised at how many people move to Nixa from all over the country. Being a realtor, I have sold homes in Nixa to people from Wisconsin, Florida, California, Las Vegas, and other areas. We moved to this area due to my husbands employment and the close proximity to my Kansas roots.

I got to thinking about how little I knew about the history of Nixa. Since we have lived here (17 years), I have been aware of the growth of our community etc... But I never really researched any of the history. An agent friend of mine gave me a book titled Christian County History A to Z From One End to the Other by Wayne Glenn to read.

Nixa is the largest populated district in Christian County, but was actually a late bloomer in development compared to Ozark, Billings, and Sparta. It was originally a dusty intersection between Springfield and Northern Arkansas and Ozark and Mt. Vernon. Nixa's origins go back to the mid 1800's with the movement of farmers and traders into this fertile soil region of Southwest Missouri. The growing community became known as a "crossroads" or stopover site to and from Springfield. The name NIXA comes from Nicholas A. Inman, a prominant leader in the town and from the fact that it was "a crossroads". One of our Middle Schools is named Inman, which both of my children attended.SkiingNixa is located 10 miles south of Springfield, MO and 30 miles north of Branson, MO and Table Rock Lake on Highway 160, just 4 miles west of Highway 65. It is one of the fastest growing cities in the state and is located in Christian County which is the 66th fastest growing county in the United States! Our population is a little over 20,000.

Nixa is a wonderful community! We have loved living in Nixa and I am so thankful that my kids grew up here!! I am going to continue to research more about our wonderful Nixa community!

I had the opportunity to visit with Jeff Cook, the owner of Walkabout Coffee Shop in Nixa, Missouri! The coffee shop is located at 160 Hwy and CC Hwy, a great location for anyone who lives in Nixa, MO and works in Springfield, MO!

It is also nice to hear Jeff’s Australian accent!

Professional Networing Group

“Masterminds Of Biz” or “MOB” for short, is a business networking group that I have, just recently, had the opportunity to put in an application to join. I wasn’t sure initially if this was something I wanted to do and wondered if this would take too much of my time, but a friend encouraged me to visit and see what I thought.

The first thing I liked about this group was their name. Each chapter has a ‘MOB Boss”! I have enjoyed meeting tProfessional Networking Grouphe members of this particular chapter as well as guests that have visited from some of the other chapters. A member each week gives a presentation about his/her particular business and I have already gained valuable information from these!

I pride myself on being a good resource person for my clients and friends who are in need of a service or assistance of some kind (that comes from my social work background) and I have now gained many more resources!

The members of this group are also very involved in the community and in many charitable organizations that greatly benefit others!

I am very happy that my friend encouraged me to visit this group and I would suggest that if you have thought about joining a professional networking group, visit a MOB meeting or you can go online at www.mastermindsofbiz.com and check them out!

MISSOURI TAILGATING | Girls Do Watch Games | Nixa MO Realtor

Why do you tailgate? I attended the Mizzou vs Oklahoma State football game this past Saturday. Even though I attended Kansas University, I had all the MU black and gold clothing on to support the team! My idea of tailgating is to socialize with other team supporters before or after the BIG game. My emphasis though, has always been on ATTENDING the game for which we are tailgating. Evidently, others (my daughter included) don’t see the significance in actually going to the game. They tailgate the entire time! I have found out that many people do this. They are at the stadium, with all of their team attire on, and all the fixings for a great tailgate, and they watch (sometimes) the game on a TV!

My daughter and her roommates get soooo excited for the home games, but when I asked them if the team was having a winning season, what the MU quarterbacks name is, or if they knew one player on the team, they couldn’t answer. Maybe if they actually attended a game they would know these answers!!!

Oh well, I am still going to be the girl that attends the games!!
