Where should you concentrate your marketing efforts in 2009?
What strategies work with today's consumers and which ones should be re-evaluated?
The NAR Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers for 2008 provides us with some great clues.

Great weather, plenty of homes on the market, hundreds of open houses this weekend, $8,000 first-time home buyer tax credit...This weekend is shaping to be a good one already. We are experiencing more and more buyer activity across the board here at NP Dodge and have high hopes for those individuals who are looking to get a great deal on a home. We have heard recent stories from our sales associates of multiple offers and full price offers being rejected. We can not quantifies these yet but are also excited to hear about our market possibly heading in favor of the seller's.

Time Magazine just put out an article about the 'Top 10 Most Endangered Newspapers in America' this past Monday. I just heard that the Seattle Post-Inteligencer has printed it's last edition and has yet to decide if it will keep up with their website edition. This is the oldest newspaper in the state of Washington! The Rocky Mountain News has shut down after over 140 years in business. What is happening to these media outlets that they are unable to adapt to survive??
I believe it is a whirlwind of factors that the newspaper companies just can not keep up with. There are hundreds of thousands of blogs that people subscribe to for free! This very blog was started to not only connect with the public but to compete with the media. We point out the good things that are happening in our community just to try to keep pace and counter the negativity that runs rampant from today's media outlets.
I can tailor the news that comes to me via my Google Reader and Google Alerts which all ends up on my Ipod and smartphone which I carry around in my pocket everyday. I can subscribe to text messaging alerts that instantly let me know what is going on.
So why would a person pay to have a stack of paper dropped off at their doorstep on a daily or weekly basis when the information contained in that stack of paper is 'old news' compared to the news I can read from my phone in my pocket. No really, why would a person pay for this and do you think bloggers are killing these newspapers off??

Below is a down and dirty report that comes via email every morning to give us an idea of the inventory on the market. Often people ask how many homes are for sale in the area and it is nice to be able to give them an accurate answer in real time.
npdodge.com feeds in each and every listing that goes into the Omaha and Council Bluffs MLS systems. We do not discriminate by broker; we want the public at large to have access to everything real estate from one source!
