So what does this all mean to the Metro Orlando Area and Central Floridians? How much of this money will be used in those ready to go projects in Central Florida and what are those projects? According to the Florida Department of Transportation some projects have been highlighted and you can keep up with the latest development in the department's Economic Stimulus Page.

Ready-to-Go Projects -- This list of projects was prepared in response to early requests for Florida's "ready to go" transportation projects should economic stimulus funding become available. According to the Florida Department of Transportation this list is well beyond the level of funding expected to be available.

Accelerate Florida -- This is a related Florida initiative by State government to improve Florida's economy. It covers more than 160 projects that have been advanced from one to 5 months bringing significant improvements to the State's transportation system. Including among the projects is expanding the capacity of SR 50 (Colonial Drive) in Lake and Orange counties from four to six lanes. This will bring relief to traffic congestion and new jobs in that sector.

I am hoping for the best, staying informed and wishing our Administration god-speed. I look forward to the Administration's forthcoming announcements specifically addressing the mortgage and real estate challenges in our recovery.

The annual Bright Kids Book Drive campaign is aiming to collect more than 18,000 new and gently-used K-12 books for students in need and the Lake Nona community, in southeast Orlando, has joined the effort.

For the entire month of March, the Lake Nona community will be collecting books for A Gift for Teaching (AGFT) annual Bright Kids Book Drive campaign. AGFT's goal is to keep the book sections of their free stores stocked with a wide variety of age-appropriate reading materials for students and their classroom libraries. So it is time to do some spring cleaning around the house and to thoughtfully donate those books outgrown by your family.

AGFT has put together an easy-to-use Bright Kids Book Drive Kit to help you get started. Campaign partners for the book drive include Bright House Networks and Central Florida News 13 with radio partner Smooth Jazz 103.1 WLOQ .
