Is the Holiday Season a Good Time To Sell Your Home In Springfield Missouri?

A lot of people ask us if it's a good time to list a home in Springfield Missouri for sale during the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's seasons. The weather is turning colder, days are getting shorter, and people's minds are on the holidays. Is this really a good time to list your home? Absolutely! It's indeed a great time to sell your home!

Christmas in the Ozarks

Homes that are decorated for the holidays are warm and inviting. Greenery on the fireplace or stair rail, a Christmas tree with shiny ornaments and lights, and a few red poinsettias can really make buyers see the attractiveness of your home. During an open house we can even serve hot apple cider to the buyers looking at your home!

Buyers this time of year are fewer in number but you can rest assured they are more serious buyers and not just window-shopping. People who brave the cold weather to look at homes and give up holiday shopping days are ready to buy. The end of the year is when most companies transfer employees to new jobs and locations. They are ready and motivated to buy! There are also fewer homes listed for sale in the Ozarks this time of year so it means you have less competition from other properties similar to your home! When your home sells, we can schedule the closing out far enough to give you plenty of time to find a new home. Of course we look forward to finding you a new home too!Springfield Missouri Real Estate Holiday Time

I Volunteered to be a Chaperone for Ozark High School Marching Band Trip, Am I Crazy?

Saturday morning at 8:00 am.sharp, my son Jacob and I were at Ozark High School, ready to make the trip to St Louis. Four buses were scheduled to leave at 9:00 am. Jacob was curious to see what bus I was going to be a chaperone (police patrol) on and was relieved when I wasn't assigned to his bus. One hour and forty-five minutes later we hit the road.School Bus

They separated the boys and the girls on different buses to prevent any catastrophes. I choose a girl bus because I wanted to experience what it would be like to have a daughter. We had two wonderful boys but there has always been this longing for a girl. Things were going great! It was so much fun having a daughter (for a day) and it really did make me feel young and needed again.

After about 1 hour into the trip I started wondering if I had gotten more than what I had bargained for. These girls were really needy! Several girls were mad at their boyfriends and several girls were upset because their best friend said something about them that they shouldn't have. By the end of the trip I was glad it was only for a weekend.

Would I do it again? Yes, it was just great! I don't know if I will stay with the girls or switch to the boy bus next time but I will definitely do it again. They competed at the St. Louis Dome and placed 11th, they just looked fabulous!

There's A Lot Of Wolly Worms This Year! Have You Read Your Farmer's Almanac?

I've seen a lot of wolly worms this year, and Wolly Wormthey are really wolly! Does that mean we are in for a cold and snowy winter? Or is it something about the stripes? I can't remember.

I grew up on a dairy farm and my mom and dad always believed that kind of stuff. He would only plant the garden during the right phase of the moon and he read the Farmer's Almanac. All I can say is we always had a lot of fresh vegetables from the garden!

Busiek State Park, Between Ozark Missouri and Branson

Just a few miles South of Ozark Missouri is one of our favorite places to hike and enjoy the outdoors. Busiek State Park is a real gem and kind of a local secret. With 2502 acres of woods, glades, and steep terrain, you can go hiking and mountain biking or you can bring your horses and go riding. There is also a shooting range for practicing your marksmanship. Primitive camping is available with a permit from the parks dept.

Whether you are a beginner or experienced hiker there are trails for everyone's skill levels. The trails range from easy and mild, to very steep and difficult and are most are several miles long. The hike is strenuous so be sure to arrive early enough to give yourself plenty of time. You don't have to worry about getting lost since the trails are well marked.

Make sure to wear sturdy shoes and take water and a cell phone just in case. However, on some trails you can't get a cell phone signal because they are so remote! Its also a good idea to bring your camera and a light jacket.

Fall is a really great time of the year to visit the park because of the cool temperatures and wonderful fall colors. As you walk along, keep an eye out for all kinds of wildlife and birds. Woods Fork Creek runs through the park in between the beautiful ridges and trees so depending on the weather you might have to wade through the creek along your journey.View from the top at Busick State Park

I took these pictures this morning on the "purple" trail on the West side. Just look at that view! Its easy to get to the park. Just take Hwy 65 S of Ozark and turn left at the brown marker sign. Hope to see you there!
