Here are ten great reasons to move to Springfield Missouri!
10. Recreation. There are many beautiful lakes, rivers, and trails within a few minutes drive. If you're an outdoors type of person you'll really enjoy the area.
9. You get more home for your money. If you're used to a postage stamp size lot and an expensive home, you're in for a treat. A $200,000 home here would sell for much more in most other parts of the country.
8. Great schools. We have a good ratio of student to teacher and strong acedimic programs. There are many fine universities in the area.
7. Friendly people. Folks are friendly in the Ozarks and always willing to help out a neighbor.
6. Diverse job opportunities. There are a lot of job opportunities in the area in tourism, manufacturing, medical, sales, and service. We aren't dependent on any one sector.
5. Lower cost of living. Utilities, groceries, basics are affordable.
4. Great climate. Winters are not harsh and summers aren't terribly hot here. We usually get one or two snowfalls in an average year. We have four distinct seasons.
3. Hunting and fishing. There are great opportunities for hunting deer, turkey, and small game as well as bass, trout, and crappie fishing all within a few minutes drive. Can you say Bass Pro Shop?
2. Great shopping opportunities and things to see. Don't miss Battlefield Mall, and the outlet malls at Branson!
1. No Hillbillys here! Well maybe a few at Branson shows but that's about it.

Sarah Palin will speak on patriotism, citizenship and civic engagement at College of the Ozarks December 2, at 7 p.m. at the Keeter Gymnasium. The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. Call (417) 690-2240 for tickets. Tickets are limited, and they will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We saw her speak during the election and she is an awesome speaker. Nothing like the character the media paints.

We enjoyed watching Ozark High School Band perform at the Ozarko competition yesterday at Missouri State University. The name of their show is "Outside The Box". The band marches through and between large boxes which are carried around on the field. Its a very complicated routine.
I had a lot of work to do but I made time to attend the Get Motivated Seminar yesterday at the JQH Arena in Springfield Missouri. The parking was crazy and nudging my way through the crowd of more than 8,000 people was challenging but I finally found a seat and I was there!
I was amazed to see how many people needed to be motivated! I was also amazed at how excited people were to be at a Zig Ziglar seminar! He is a great motivational speaker and has many years of knowledge and experiences that makes him one of the most sought after speakers in the country.
Gen. Colin Powell was rather comical in his speech regarding Take Charge Leadership. He discussed his age and the challenges he faces with facebook, twitter and texting. This was a side of him I hadn’t seen before. He spoke several times about his bride of 40 plus years. He also spoke on how everyone has an important job and to not make anyone feel belittled. He is a man who loves his country and all the men and women who serve her.
Tamara Lowe was full of energy and spoke on How to Strengthen Your Sales and Negotiation Skills with Motivated DNA (Drive, Needs & Awards) if we learn the DNA we will close the deal! She ended with a testimonial about her life and encouraged us to not let the wrong decisions that was made in our past be the destiny of our future. She prayed and gave all the credit to her Lord and Savior who saved her by grace.
My favorite speaker of the day was Krish Dhanam born in South India. His topic was Gaining With Goals. He spoke about his achievement of the American Dream and his message of hope and change was phenomenal. It’s about setting goals and he laid out seven steps to achieving our goals. He spoke about 911 and after and the nightmare he endured trying to travel. He said fear over took our nation and he was a good US citizen but was also considered a danger. He had to learn to accept the challenge that faced him during this time. He ended with reminding us that despite the conflicts that face our nation, the United States of America is still the greatest place in the world to live and it’s up to all of us to keep it that way.
I felt the seminar was well worth my time. I was unable to stay for the entire day but did experience an added kick in my step as I left the arena to return to my world of accomplishing my goals!
