The team at RE/MAX 1st Olympic Lynchburg remembers 9/11 We shall never forget
Yesterday was a beautiful day here in Va much like it was in NY on that 9/11/2001 morning 8 yrs ago. People got up and started their day just like any other. The horror of that day is something that none of us will ever forget and never should. America changed forever on that day.
We have been at war ever since. It is so sad that there are people who hate and have so much evil in them.Let this day and every day be a reminder to live life to the fullest and appreciate all we have here in America. Let us NEVER forget how we all came together on that day. Love one another as God loves us.
We placed flags all around the perimeter of the building as we paid tribute to the brave men and women who died doing their jobs and for those people on those planes, the WTC and the Pentagon who got up that morning just as we do each morning to start their day and never came home again. Always include them in your prayers but move forward and be the best person you can be and don't waste it on negative or wasteless energy.
There is a saying "Life is a gift that God gives us. What we do with our life is our gift to him"

Since 1783 the Lynchburg Community Market has played a key role in the development and growth of downtown Lynchburg. The first Lynchburg Community Market was located on Water Street (now known as Ninth Street) and was an important economic contributor to the growth of Lynchburg. The 1783 Market was an open-air market, and served as the central social gathering place for the city.
As Lynchburg grew, the Market grew also, and was rebuilt in 1814 in the center of Water Street. The Market served as a town square area for the community, with city-wide notices and speakers throughout the day and evening. The Market was open every day but Sunday, and every conceivable good or service was located in or nearby in the developing downtown commercial district.
In 1872, the Market was enlarged and rebuilt on Main Street, between 11th and 12th Streets to better serve the growing population, which had grown rapidly due to the expansion of the railroad through Lynchburg. Completed in the fall of 1873, the new Market had enclosed spaces and an auditorium on site.
After many changes in building style and location, the Community Market and Armory today stands on the corner of Main and 12th Streets, opening its doors on July 2, 1932. The market continued to play an important role in the community until the 1950's when community markets across the United States declined due to the growth of supermarkets and suburban development.
In 1987, the Market went through its final architectural renovation to date, when landscaping, new parking, outside Farmer's stalls and central heat and air conditioning were added to improve the Market for vendors and customers. With easy access to nearby neighborhoods, as well as visitors, the Market is an essential part of the revitalization of downtown.
The Lynchburg Community Market is proud to be the home of the Heritage Crafters Gallery, an exciting opportunity for visitors to purchase the best in local, Virginia made fine artisan handcrafts. Open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. If want a true "local" experience the Lynchburg Community Market restaurants and shops are for you. The Awareness Garden
1700 Block of Old Langhorne Road
434-384-6740

The Awareness Garden was established at the Ed Page entrance to the James River Heritage Trail and dedicated on September 6, 2003. The Awareness Garden honors the families and caregivers whose lives have been touched by cancer. Experience the beautiful gateway to nature, remembering the blessing of good health. Ring "Lalla's Bell" 3 times to celebrate the end of treatments, to remember a loved one, or to bring hope for a cure for all.
You can honor a loved one or friend with an engraved brick, placed in paths and walkways of the garden. A small number of benches and lime stones are also available for purchase.
They have a fundraiser "The Annual golf Classic Cocktail Party. They have a annual "Lighting of the Garden" with hot chocolate and caroling to celebrate the holiday season. Lights are illuminated every evening from 5-11 p.m. through January. They also have a "Brick Dedication" where donors and their honored guests can view newly engraved bricks, limestones and benches. A brief prayer of dedication is offered followed by refreshments.
The Awareness Garden has been a beautiful work in progress. The photos(below) show the evolution of the garden from its conception.
