Not only are we within driving distance to beautiful state parks and national parks, we are also with driving distance to historical sites. Sgt. Alvin C. York, Cordell hull, and historic Rugby are just a few of the historic places near here.
Historic Rugby is my favorite place to go. They have special activies that I love going to. During Halloween they decorate the houses like they would for the 1880s and tell old ghost stories around a campfire out in the woods. Since none of the old houses there have electricity it can be pretty creepy but very cool. At Christmas time they dress up the way they would back then and sing Christmas carols and drink Wassial. Theres lots of history in Rugby and if you have the chance I recommend going one of these 2 holidays.

Here in Cookeville, TN, we live within driving distance of many state parks. Some of the prettiest state parks in the state I might add. Fall Creek Falls is only a hour drive from Cookeville and offers many fun activities and beautiful sites.
Fall Creek Falls is one of the highest waterfalls east of the Rocky Mountains. At Fall Creek Falls State park you can not only experience the actual Fall Creek Falls waterfall but there is other waterfalls as well including Cane Creek Falls, Piney Creek Falls, and the Cascades.
One of my favorite activities to do at the park is hike. There are numerous trails there at the park for everybody! All of the great sites of the park, waterfalls, beautiful gorge overlooks, swimming and an abundance of nature can be accessed by bike trials, day hike trails and overnight trails.
If you want to spend the night at the park they have a wonderful Inn you can stay at. It has all the amenities that you need. They also have cabins by the lake and cabins in the woods. They also have camping in the backcountry and drive in areas as well.
Recreation is abundant at the park. Fishing, swimming, a recreation center, horseback riding, a
top rated golf course, boating, photography, wildlife watching, and caving are all outstanding at Fall
Creek Falls.
