Bergen County Open Space, Recreation, Farmland, and Historic Preservation Trust Fund/Haledon Reservoir

Haledon reservoir- Located in Franklin Lakes- $2,000,000

Approximately 150 acres of the Haledon Reservoir and accompanying property were purchased with the help of two, seperate $1 million Trust Fund grants. By making the purchase the Township of Franklin Lakes ensures that the area will be developed only for passive recreation, such as boating, fishing, hiking, and wildlife education.

Dahnert's Lake- Located in Garfield- $250,00

Located in the city of Garfieldthe Trust fund allocated $250,00 towards improvements to dahnert;s Lake County Park. The improvements will include dredging the pond to improve fish population, rebuilding the dam, stabilizing the banks of the pond and reconstructing the existing island ocated in the pond to include a gazebo open to the public.

Demarest Farm- Located in Hillsdale- $1,667,098

With the generous assisstance of a $1,667,098 grant from the Trust Fund, Bergen county was able to purchase the development right to Demarest Farm, an 11-acre apple and peach orchard located in Hillsdale. This is the fourth permanently preserved farm in the area and brings the total farmland acreage preserved with the Trust Fund assistance to 314 acres.
