NEXT LPCA MEETING

For those Land Park residents that want to keep up with the latest "goings on" in Land Park, Land Park Community Association invites us all to attend their next meeting, August 20th at 6:30 at Holy Spirit School. These meetings are always informative, interesting and a little rambunctous. The first part of the meetings are usually a little dry while the board approves the previous month's (this time 2 months) minutes, but after that, anything goes. Tomorrow night will feature a speaker from Parks and Recreation discussing the disappearing geese and the Adopt-A-Park program. See you then!

STONEPOINTE HAS TENANTS!!!!

For those of you who are unfamiliar, in Sacramento, on the corner of 12th Avenue and Freeport Blvd, is a new, very nice strip shopping center built by Petrovich. It replaced an eyesore that tried to accomodate more tenants than I care to think about! We have been waiting patiently and a little anxiously for it to be leased, but after many months, nothing. Until today! There, on the windows, are huge signs saying "Leased" and "Lease Pending". Now we call the owner to find out who has leased it. Well, due to some delicate ongoing discussions, they can't tell us...but the good news...we finally have a new, quality shopping center near us! Thanks Petrovich! You're awesome!

YEA TARGET!!!

This is written for all those "Target" lovers...and yes, I am talking about the mega store! It is dangerous to go there...because there are so many great items at great prices! So...why am I writing? Because our old Target is being rebuilt...not remodeled...rebuilt! Starting January 1st and ending in October 2009, Target is being torn down and rebuilt closer to the street, 2 storied (with the store on top and parking below) and Target has agreed to keep our Garden Center! There will even be 3 store fronts for other businesses to lease! Oh boy, oh boy! The worst part is that we will have to do without our precious Target for 9 months. So, Land Park residents...get ready...it is going to be so cool!

Broadway Bridge in Sacramento

The proposal for a bridge connecting West Sacramento with the City of Sacramento has been approved by SACOG (changing the term to "river crossing" to take away some of the political impact). It is estimated that 45,000 cars would use the bridge daily. The justification for putting it at Broadway is this corridor is all commercial and the bride would bring more business to the Tower District. It is an observation that Broadway is surrounded by residential areas and this would have a high impact on the quality of life. The City of Sacramento has the final say regarding this. Mayor Fargo voted in favor of the Metropolitain Transportation Plan but expressed reservations regarding the Broadway Bridge. What are the opinions of my colleages?
