Q: How close is Crossville to a major city?
A: We are centrally located between three major cities. Knoxville 70 miles, Nashville 120 miles, and Chattanooga 80 miles. We are also a 4 hour drive from Atlanta, GA.
Q: What is there to do in Crossville?
A: Crossville offers a wide array of activities. Unmatched outdoor activities; Hunting, fishing, hiking, swimming, boating, canoing, kayacking, rafting, tennis, horseback riding, camping. Crossville is well known for the golf! 11 golf courses throughout the county. Crossville/Cumberland County has various activities throughout the year that involve the whole community.
Q: What about Arts & Theater?
A: Cumberland County Playhouse offers many productions ranging from Broadway hits to original productions. The Palace Theater in downtown also offers many Art displays and musicals throughout the year.
Q: What about healthcare?
A: Cumberland Medical Center is a 169 bed healthcare facility.
Q. How much snow do you get?
A: On the average our snowfall is 12 inches per year, in recent years it has been much less! We have mild annual climate of 54 degrees.

Catoosa Wildlife Management Area An 80,000 acre wildlife area. Here you will find wildlife, forests, rivers and streams in their natural settings. |
Obed River runs through the CWMA to dump into the Emory River. Rock climbing, fishing, rafting, canoing, and kayaking are popular activities on the Obed. |
Fox Creek Is a small contributory creek of Obed River. It 's great for the kids to splash around in on hot summer days. |
Watch wildlife as the graze in the open fields that have been planted with corn, alfalfa, sugar cane, and clover. Here you can see a family of wild turkeys against the wood-line. |
Devil's Breakfast Table A local famous rock outcropping overlooking Daddy's Creek. I have not met anyone that knows the exact origin of the name. |
These falls dumps into a pristine, deep pool of water close to the Breakfast Table. This is my family's spot to come when the hot days of summer get to unbearable and we need to cool off. You can also see rafts, canoes, and kayaks following the river all the way to Emory River. |

Hundreds of miles of gravel roads and dirt trails are great for watching wildlife, plants, and trees. Wildlife includes; deer, wild hogs, elk, bear, wild turkey, rabbits, squirrels, 100's of different species of birds, and waterfowl. Remember you must have a license to hunt on TWRA land. Crab Orchard is one of the oldest communities in Cumberland County. It is located approximately 10 miles west of Crossville on I-40.
If you have ever traveled through Cumberland County you have noticed the stone that graces some of our homes. This stone is found in only one place and that is here in Crab Orchard Tennessee. This sandstone is rare stone only found in the Crab Orchard mountain is known for its pinkish hue. Crab Orchard Stone is used for fireplaces, chimneys, exterior of homes, and walk ways. Crab Orchard Stone was the primary stone used for the Cumberland Homestead Project. This distintive stone is shipped all over the United States.

THE GREAT CUMBERLAND PLATEAU...
It is no wonder that people from around the country are looking to move to our area. One look at the views, the rich history, and the friendly atmosphere and if I didn't already live here, I would move here.
There is never a lack of activities to keep you busy here in this area. From the unmatched Tennessee State Parks abounding with natural wonders, the refreshing rivers and streams, the tantalizing lakes that surround our area, the thousands of acres of undisturbed forest land of the Catoosa Wildlife Management Area, the abundance of floral and fauna everywhere you look, the history that captures you as you wander about the Plateau, the rolling pasture-lands that offer incredible views of mountains, this place is simply beautiful.
