Top - Interior Design Trends of 2012

With 2012 in full swing, we’re ready to hone in on all the trends for this year and execute them in our homes; along with some much needed spring-cleaning, of course. Follow these trends of 2012, and your house will be on the forefront of home design.

Rustic Details

Who says rustic details should be reserved for the lumberjack or mountaineer? This year, interior designers are showing us how rustic details can make a seemingly cold house cozier and more comfortable. If you want to bring a little bit of the country into your home, try adding wood beams to the ceiling of your kitchen. Additionally, exposed stone gives a lodge-like appearance, without looking hokey or contrived.

Backyards

Design isn’t limited to the interior of your home. With smaller and more eco-friendly houses being built daily, people are transferring much more of their living space out into the great outdoors. Make a lush outdoor oasis by planting different sized plants. Layering different sizes of plants will create a textured appearance. Make room for a water feature, like a fountain, pond, or waterfall. If you live close to the street, a water feature can “drown out” the noises of passing cars (pun intended). Wildflowers can be planted to attract surrounding wildlife, like butterflies and hummingbirds.

Romantic bedrooms

Put the romance back in your bedroom by revamping the most important room in the house. Luxurious bedrooms are back in style, so feel free to make your bedroom dramatic with multiple patterns, rich fabrics, heavy drapery, and baroque mirrors. Even a bed canopy can be styled to look tasteful when made from thick, white, opaque drapes. Of course, no romantic bedroom is complete without an oversized leather chair, récamier, or an ornate chaise longue.

Take these interior design trends into account when you’re redecorating this year for a house that will look stylish and cutting-edge for years to come.

Affordable Interior Design - touches that make a big difference in home re-decorating

When most people think of re-decorating the house, they think of fitting a new bathroom, kitchen or living room suite. However, this type of large scale interior design can be very costly and time consuming.

So, if you want to breathe some new life into your home and shake up the design, without it costing an arm and a leg, what can you do? Well there are lots of small touches and changes you can make around the home that will make a big difference.

Art work

Putting up new art work is a great way to make a big change to a room. A large piece of art work can be quick and simple to put up yet will make a big difference to the style and focus of a room. What’s more, if you frame the piece yourself or buy it from a second hand store, it can be incredibly cheap yet make a big difference.

Finishing touches

There are also lots of other little touches you can make that don’t take a lot of effort, money or time but can completely re-vamp your home. Putting simple things out on display, such as fresh flowers, fruit or candles can have a big impact on a room’s aesthetics.

Maintenance

If you are looking to make a big change to your home but don’t have too much time or money there is still lots you can do. Rather than having a whole new kitchen fitted, why not simply replace the cabinet doors. This could completely transform your kitchen and make it look brand new with hardly any effort. Most cabinet doors will un-screw simply and can be easily replaced, without having to change the whole cabinet or counter tops.

Similarly, rather than replacing your carpets you can make a big difference to a room by simply having them cleaned. Carpet cleaning is quite affordable and quick, especially compared to replacing them, yet can make a room look a lot more fresh and new. You could also try a new color of paint on the walls or just some fresh sealant around the bathroom fittings.

So there you have it, all of these simple, quick and easy ideas can have a big impact on the style of a room without costing you a lot of time and money. However, one thing to keep in mind when you are revamping a room is to check to see if it will impact on your home insurance coverage as you might have to declare any changes.

Why Stage Your Home?

You only have one chance to make a first impression. Using Redesign + Mores Home Staging Professionals to prepare your home for sale offers a competitive advantage over homes in your community!

Make More Money - Did you know that U.S. Housing and Urban Development reported that a staged house sells, on average 17% higher than a non-staged house.

You’re House Will Sell Faster - Staged properties sell quicker than un-staged homes. Research shows that staged homes sell 2 to 2.5 times faster than un-staged ones.

The Cost Of Staging - Home Staging cost far less than your first price reduction. The HomeGain survey of over 2,000 Realtors discovered that sellers who staged their home recovered approximately 200% of the cost of Staging in the sale price of their home.

Image is everything. Staged homes encourage buyers to envision themselves living in the space while forming a necessary emotional connection to the property.
