Each of the following memberships to Pinehurst Country Club include use of the dining facilities, golf, tennis, swimming pools, Beach Club, croquet and lawn bowls and discounts at the Pinehurst Spa. The following are 2011 rates. (1) Full Membership…Monthly fee: $361.00 There are no green fees for golf or court fees for tennis and lawn sports. (2) Tennis Membership…Monthly fee: $250.00 There are no court fees for tennis and lawn sports, but green fees for golf are applicable. (3) Recreational Membership…Monthly fee: $139.00 Golf greens fees , court fees for tennis and lawn sports are applicable. (4) Social Membership…Monthly fee: $87.00 Golf greens fees, court fees for tennis and lawn sports are applicable. One of the great options a member has is to upgrade or downgrade his/her membership. So if a member lives out of state and only uses the membership to play golf a few times a year, then the membership classification the member might want to consider is the Social Membership. Cost to play golf then is the full greens fee for whichever course the member wants to play. If that same member decides move to Pinehurst or near by then he/she might consider upgrading to a Full Membership. Only catch is that whichever classification is chosen it must stay in effect for 1 year minimum. Check back later for a list of amenities that go with the Pinehurst CC membership.
I’ve heard often that Pinehurst Country Club and Resort must be expensive to join, but considering the cost of other golf clubs of this caliber, the cost is very reasonable. A transfer fee of $12,000 allows members the opportunity to play 6 golf courses, including Pinehurst #2, site of the 1999, 2005, 2014 US Open and the 2014 US Women’s Open.
The main criteria for joining PCC is the purchase of property; be it a lot, condo, or house. Once you have purchased the property there is a 60 day period that allows the new buyer to transfer the membership into his/her name. An application for membership is required but is very simple. That’s all there is to it!

“It’s a beautiful day in Pinehurst” is what you will hear 365 days, every year, when the phone is answered at the Pinehurst Resort and Country Club. We should all be that positive! The last 3 weeks there have been 2 snow storms and continually COLD temperatures…way below normal. Snow and ice in this part of North Carolina means no snow plow trucks (except landscaping trucks that have attached scrapers for the occasional winter job), schools closed at the thought of a snowflake, empty parking lots from closed businesses, no golf, sports events cancelled, etc., etc. BUT on the positive side the snow and ice can be beautiful and peaceful, allowing for plenty of family time, downtime from work and responsibilities, cooking , cleaning out a closet or two, or just hanging out! That is if the electricity doesn’t go out! So, it IS a beautiful day in Pinehurst…rain, snow, sleet or shine!

I had the most wonderful treat tonight! Had the opportunity to be a judge for the individual Union Pines High School senior projects. Moore County is blessed with 3 fine high schools, but what I saw tonight was extremely impressive. All seniors are required to complete a project over the course of several months on a topic that was a learning stretch for them. Essays, mentors, checkists, mentor and advisor meetings all leading to their final presentation. I learned an awful lot about beekeeping, car window tinting, car repair, how to creat a video and taxidermy! The research was in depth as well as the actual application of what they learned. It was a good day!
My mother lives in High Point, NC. I live in Pinehurst, NC…..about a 1½ hour drive. The normal route is to go up and down on Hwy 220 (I-73 & I-74). But several times a year I take an alternate route because of the time of the year….Spring and Autumn! This week as I was headed home from High Point I took that alternate route….down through Archdale, Flint Hill, through Caraway Mountain on into Asheboro.
The drive was absolutely gorgeous…only lasts about 20 minutes then back to reality. The drive up Old Lexington Road into Asheboro is such a treat with the old, stately homes and the many hardwood trees that were brilliant in colors of gold and red.
Living in the Sandhills of North Carolina with pine trees and green grass pretty much 12 months of the year really makes me appreciate the four seasons. In the Fall in Pinehurst the trees of red and gold are silhouetted by the huge green pine trees so they really stand out more, but there just aren’t enough of them….but then again, we don’t have to rake the leaves as much once they fall!
