A bit of History on the Fair: The North Idaho Fair started from humble beginnings about 85 years ago to grow into the five-day, community-wide entertainment and educational event that it is today.
In the early 1950s the county and city made plans to trade the original downtown fair site for a parcel at the city-owned airport known as Weeks Field. That 110 acre land swap marked the beginning of the fair as it is today. A few years later livestock barns were moved to the site and two Quonset huts were added for exhibition space. The grandstand was built in 1958. Pari-mutuel horse racing started in 1965 and continued until 1983. Those decades saw the addition of other buildings, including several that were moved from Farragut Naval Station and the Beauty Bay CCC grounds.
Improvements continued to be made yearly. The use of the grounds has expanded to include auctions, banquets, wedding receptions, trade shows, science fairs, high school graduation parties and more. Two big facility improvements came when a donation of $50,000 from the Chamber of Commerce sparked the construction of the food court. And then came the addition of the Jacklin Building in 1989.
The County took some of the 110 acres for other purposes. This left the Fairgrounds with only 83 acres. Currently, the Fair board and management are exploring the possible addition of an events center.

It was perfect weather for this 3-day annual event that Started on August 1st and ended on August 3rd, 2008. Everyone was there! Or at least it seemed like it.
We started off our Art on the Green experience by sitting on the "Lake View" deck of our friends home, people watching. There was nothing but a steady stream of people coming and going from the Art on the Green. We'd visit with friends and neighbors over the hedge as they passed by.
We finally tore ourselves away from our comfortable view setting and joined in with the crowds at the 40th Annual Art on the Green and Street Fair.
Families and people young and old crowded the Parks, Sidewalks and Streets meeting, greeting, window shopping and Buying. You could by anything from Fine art to Folk Art, Gemstones to dough art, silver to wrought iron, glass works to pottery, wood carvings to paper castings. The choices were unending.
We enjoyed street musicians and bands playing in the bandshell.
Oh, and the FOOD! I can still sense the aromas of fresh ears of corn on the cob, Huckleberry Ice Cream, Kettle Corn, Sausage Sandwiches, Bar-B-Q, Elephant Ears, Fruit Kabobs, and so on and so on and so on....

The Taste of the Coeur d'Alene's has come and gone. If you missed it, you'll have to wait untill next year. But it's worth the wait.
Waiting in line at some of the food tents didn't seem to be a problem for most people. They were willing to wait up to 30 minutes for some of the delectables.
Once you got your food you could sit and bask in the sun on the sandy beach of Lake Coeur d'Alne, sit in the park and listen to bands playing in the Pavilian, watch a basketball game, enjoy watching the children play in the elaborate playground, people watch or walk the Art Walk.
Chances are you were going to meet and greet with most of your friends and neighbors.

It was that time of year again in Hayden Lake, Idaho. From July 30th thru August 2nd the balls were flying and the stakes were high at one of the Northwest's top golf events of the year.
A Member Tradition Since 1962. Everyone looks forward to this fun-filled week of great social events, spectacular weather, awesome Hayden Lake views, and great play. The Hayden Lake Country Club staff is committed to keeping this tradition alive.
Wednesday, July 30th was Registration, practice rounds and a Cocktail party on the Deck for Contestants and their Wives/Guests.

Thursday, July 31th was First Round. From these scores the low 10 members and the low 10 guests were paired for the Horse Race on Friday. That evening the Contestants and their Wives/Guests were treated to a Complimentary STAG (no girls!) dinner.
Friday, August 1st was Second Round. There was also a putting contest. After play was over the Horse Race was off and running! That evening Contestants and their Wives/Guests enjoyed one of the most incredible Seafood Buffet's in the Pacific Northwest.
Saturday, August 2nd was Final Round. That evening the Contestants and their Wives/Guests dressed up for the Awards Dinner followed by dancing.
It was a fabulous and exciting event. I know everyone is already eagerly anticipating Hayden Lake Country Club's 47th Annual Member Guest Tournament!

The Jank's, Weber's, Findley's & Robison's Would like to thank the Hayden Lake Country Club Staff for their "World Class" service!
