I came across a product called "Thomas Liquid Stainless Steel" designed to renovate kitchen appliances, faucets and drawer and cabinet hardware to stainless steel. They are several kit offerings (i.e. fridge kit).
I'm wondering if anyone has used this product and wonder how the project turned out. The cost is very reasonable and if it works successfully would be a great option to replacing appliances for staging or otherwise.

Many times when Staging we are faced with bathrooms that are either outdated or simply in bad shape. And many of these times the budget dictates that replacement is not an option.
We have had great success with a company called Bathcrest as a solution to these circumstances. They offer acrylic bath and shower liners as well as wall surrounds. But, where we have used them mostly is for refinishing or re-glazing ceramic tiles, tub, sink, countertops and toilet resurfacing.
Bathcrest http://www.bathcrest.com/ was founded over 30 years ago by a former Realtor who wanted an economical and effective method for remodeling bathrooms. They now have a network of franchises and distributors throughout the US and Canada.
So, as you can see by the pictures below, when the mauve toilet or the pepto-bismo & mint tile has got to go, this is a wonderful solution!
Unfortunately, the homeowner would not let us resurface the hand-painted tiles!

We recently acted as Project Managers for an overhaul of an original 50's home in Studio City, CA. And we mean original!! Pink & green bathroom tiles, original appliances, original hardwood floors covered by carpet that was falling apart! Everything was updated from the front curb to the back fence.
The original owner was the late Al Viola, premier jazz guitarist who played with Frank Sinatra for many years. His guitar can be heard on New York, New York, My Way and many, many other Frank Sinatra hits. His mandolin playing is featured on the theme song from The Godfather.
This was truly a labor of love for us. Our clients, the son and daughter-in-law of Al were so wonderful to work for. We recently rehabbed their townhome in Simi Valley, CA too, which is currently for sale (pictures and details to be posted soon) They are moving up to a larger home. http://www.dilbeck.com/v2pages/home_search/residential.cfm?mln=90020529&kind=Residential (Realtor's pictures).
Our team members were awesome to work with; they worked quickly in a tight time frame with quality results.
All of our hard work paid off - the home sold in 4 days for full asking price ($100,000 more than what the Realtor originally was planning on listing if for).
Needless to say, both the owner and the Realtor were thrilled.
Here are a few before and after pictures - more will follow soon! (That's Al in the artwork - we just couldn't leave him out!)

Some local Southern California IRIS (www.weredesign.com) Stagers & Redesigners have teamed up to offer "Havens for Healing", an outreach program for patients with cancer. This group was put together by Marcia Smart and Barbara Hiatt.
Our mission is to provide a nurturing and harmonious environment for cancer patients through Interior Redesign. Our members donate their time and use the client's possessions in this complimentary service. Typically, a room can be magically reborn in just a few hours.
The program is open to cancer patients who:
Have been recently diagnosed and about to begin treatment or
Are currently in active treatment, or
Are within 3 months of completing treatment.
After the Redesign is completed, we plan on presenting the clients with a one-of-a-kind "spa basket". On February 27, 2009, Patti Glover hosted a "spa-basket" assembling party. What a ball we had! With wine and appetizers to fuel us, the 6 of us went to work. Everything from candles, lotion, bath salts, journals & pens, chocolate, lip balms, inspirational CD's and fuzzy socks were bundled up in true "Redesigner" fashion and wrapped up beautifully. We completed 12 fantastic baskets!

Since we can't wait to share our services and baskets, we're asking if you or anyone you know, in the Ventura County/Los Angeles County area would like to be added to the Havens for Healing consideration list, please contact a Havens Coordinator:

If you have a tired, damaged or BORING lampshade that could use updating or you want a particular look for a Staging area, check out www.frockz.com.
These are spandex, formfitting slipcovers that fit right over your existing lampshade. And they're machine washable! Great for Staging inventories that get moved and touched so often.
Another idea would be to take thrift store lamps and update them with these. You'll have a one-of-a-kind original!
These would be a great addition to your Staging inventory; they take up almost no space and you could get several looks witha minimum number of lamps.
