First Time Homeowners - Take Advantage of this Opportunity! You can buy an older home that needs remodeling. On July 30, 2008 President Bush signed a major housing bill into law. Basically, Congress has created a new, temporary tax credit to provide an incentive for first-time homebuyers. The $7,500 credit will be available for the purchase of a principal residence on or after April 9,2008 and before July 1, 2009.

For your information, my son purchased a townhouse in the DC area in August so he is planning on taking advantage of this money. Even though it is just a "loan" that has to be paid back in 15 years ($502.50 each year), it's money now to do renovations to your house. Plus, it's interest free!
