Pennington NJ Real Estate - How long to sell?

How long does it take to sell my house? Is the real estate market going to get much worth in the new 2008? Home buyers and sellers in Pennington New Jersey continue to ask these questions heading into the spring market.

I don’t believe that national “Prophets” know exactly what will happen in each local real estate market. General economic indicators are that the markets will not get much better in terms of home sales prices.

Instead of predicting the future we can look at the historic data. One indicator of the real estate market is how long does it take to sell a house, or what is called in the real estate speak “Days on the market” or DOM.

The chart examines the DOM for five towns Montgomery Township, Hopewell, Pennington, West Windsor, and Princeton from 2004 to 2007. The main points it illustrates is that:

  • As the market declined, it took longer to sell the house.
  • The DOM is different for different towns that are next to each other.
  • Real estate markets are extremely local, where even one street can be different from another in terms of DOM.
  • Pennington - experienced 122% increase in the DOM (compared to 2004) –the largest of the five towns examined.
  • Princeton – experienced the smallest increase – 19% (compared to 2004).

Princeton NJ Real Estate - Relocating - Recreation

Princeton NJ Real Estate – Relocating To Princeton NJ -Things To Do -Skiing

Princeton house prices, quality of the schools, and commuting distance are usually the most important things clients consider when relocating to the greater Princeton NJ area. Having excellent recreation possibilities is also very important to many home buyers.

Skiing is a very popular recreation activity and living in Princeton makes it possible to make it as a day trip. Excellent skiing facilities are available within one to three hours drive.
Princeton NJ Relocation - Skiing
We just came back form skiing and snowboarding at the Hunter Mountain. We stayed at the Marriott Courtyard Kingston NY, which is about 35 minutes south from the Hunter Mountain as well as Belleayre Mountain. The hotel was reasonably priced at $115 per room with breakfast, had rooms with Internet access and a pool. It was close to many stores - for the last minute forgotten items that you can't possibly do without. That’s what our kids thought, and we were glad there were lots of shopping options available.

The Hunter Mountain has skiing and snowboarding instruction available for all levels. The center is well organized and what appeared to be long lines for rentals moved very quickly.

If you are considering relocating or moving to Princeton NJ and love to ski, get your gear ready. If you want to avoid rental lines altogether, you can rent gear on a seasonal basis from the Ski Barn in Lawrenceville. The only difficult decision would be which mountain to choose.
