Why after 20 years doing everything BUT real state sales, have I decided to get into fsbo or for sale by owner? Good question. In many ways this is what this blog is about. Its about the evolution of real estate. Its about the changing market. Its about the growth of my business. Its about shaking things up...especially in the Georgian Bay, Orillia, Midland and Muskoka areas. In a nut shell professional real estate people need to be exactly that...professionals, versed in ALL aspects of real estate. And i am sorry to say that the 80/20 rule does not apply here. Its more like 97/3. Which means that only 3% of real estate experts are truly that...experts. the other 97 are wanna-bees.
So I ask again why for sale by owner? Its simple really. The fsbo market is growing at 80 to 100% a year. The mls maybe 10. ( depending on the market you look at). It will only be the next best thing when real estate agents decide to embrace for sale by owners and work WITH THEM ( the vendors) to truly help sell there home. FSBO's are here to stay and they will become part of the MLS landscape in 5 years. Get used to it.
Well my first post, like many of you is a shot in the dark about how this blog thing works. I know I have lots to say because my mouth runs dry a lot because I talk so much. Will this ever get read...I hope so. I guess the best way I will treat this as a journal or diary of sorts about my adventures in real estate.
Like many of you real estate has been a passion of mine. It really started for me in 1988 when I bought my first house. It was a semi-detach in Richmond Hill Ontario. I bought it at the height of the bubble...so yes I lost money. I looked at the lay out and could immediately envision a basement apartment. I figured I would live in the basement ( being single and all) and rent out the upstairs to help pay the mortgage.
I known I'm supposed to do some real estate advertising here...but how??
