We lost a good one this week! Mary Catherine Poker was one of those rare agents have gave this 
business all she had, and more. She passed away suddenly Wednesday morning, a shock to all at only 41. A wife, a mother of two small boys 5 & 7, she will be missed most at home. But in her office, her colleagues are remembering all those special (sometimes crazy) things Mary Catherine did to get a sale put together.... Like knocking on a door and telling the homeowner she wanted to sell their home (to the buyer sitting in her car at the curb)...problem: the house wasn't for sale! Guess what? She did sell it!
It seemed that Mary Catherine thought the road to success was paved with home baked goodies, and whether it was a broker open or an offer presentation, she came bringing something fresh from her oven! She was recruited to our company by the chairman of the board, as she waited on his wife at Talbots. He knew she was a talented sales person. And boy, was he right! But it wasn't just her sales talents that people remember. She was always smiling, chipper and ready to lend a hand. She was praised by not only those in her own company, but competitors alike, that makes a statement! A clients child when told of Mary Catherine's death said: "something must have happened in Heaven, and God needed her help!"
Specializing in executive relocation and luxury property, the demands were high, and Mary Catherine always was striving, not to meet the demands, but to exceed them. A true professional, she will be missed by all who knew her, whether family, friends, co workers or clients. There will be a river of tears come this Sunday and Monday as she is remembered and her life is celebrated.
Updated April 7th: What an amazing turnout to pay respects. The line at the visitation was over 3 hours long. It set a record at the funeral home (and they hosted legendary Marquette coach Al McGuires funeral), and the avalanche of floral bouquets made me think there were no flowers left in the city! With this outpouring of love and support, no one could question just how many fans Mary Catherine had. It was truly a sign to her family that through her real estate career she touched the lives of many, many people!

This past Saturday the 21st of March, Shorewest Realtors sponsored a food drive that brought in a Hummer full of food! Thanks goes to the Pick N Save store and their management for allowing us to set up collection spots at the entrances for 6 hours that day.
Charlene from the food pantry was excited to see all the donations which included over $100 in cash. She was happy to see an entire box full of toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, toilet paper, baby wipes and diapers. Often times these personal care items don't come to mind for donations to a food drive, but they are really in need.
Thank you to everyone who donated. Pick N Save sweetened the pot by donating grocery gift cards for drawings held every hour. Winners have been notified and they include:

The Annual TreeTops Round Robin held March 14th was a great success! Almost 25 neighbors participated, ranging from parents of newborns to empty nesters, owners who bought in 2002, and owners who just moved in this past year. What a great way to meet neighbors in a casual setting.
As hosts at the first stop, we found it incredibly easy! All I had to do was clean the house and light the candles and fireplace. One third of the couples brought cold appetizers to our home. Plates, cups and ice were dropped off earlier in the day. All I had to do afterward was spend 10 minutes picking up. No dishes, just clearing empty bottles and cans. (everyone brings their own beverages). What could be easier!
Cheri & Jerry Bakula hosted the second stop, with hot appetizers. Some talent was exposed when Rock Band was turned on! We won't tell who was the most talented, but everyone had fun whether watching or doing the entertaining! A fun neighbors trivia game helped everyone get to know each other better
Then it was on to the Stadlers home for desserts. WOW! If we thought the appetizers were good, the desserts were outstanding! How about homemade Baklava, brownies, cheese cakes or an amazing display of "adult" cupcakes...Now let me explain the adult part...Several different plates or displays of Amaretto, Pina Colada, Cappucino and Margarita Cupcakes. 
Not only did they look adorable (Margaritas were pale green with tiny straws!), all the desserts tasted fabulous...
