Day 86: Festivals, Festivals....the next to watch for is Riverfest in Wilmington - October 1-3...mark your calendar now. Go to www.WimingtonRiverfest.com for all the details and events. The first Riverfest started in 1979 and after 30 years is stronger than ever. Downtown Wilmington will be hoppin' for sure...this is a must attend event for tourists and Wilmingtonians.... Walk along the historic riverfront and enjoy the atmosphere, the thrill of just being in Wilmington. Check out the classic antique car show, skateboard tournament, go on a treasure hunt and run for your life....its the invasion of the pirates. www.invasionofthepirates.com Great food, crafts and best of all FREE entertainment for kids and adults.....Kids zone for the kids and live bands on 2 stages for the whole family.

Day 85: Free Programs at Halyburton Park (located off 17th Street extension) - there are free programs coming up....9/29 12:30 to 4:30pm the NC Wildlife Resources Commission will explore wildlife near the Fort Fisher and Federal Point area. There will be a slide presentation at the park before visiting Fort Fisher. Attendees will seine for fish and other aquatic marine life. (Seine fishing is fishing using a seine. A seine is a large fishing net that hangs vertically in the water by attaching weights along the bottom edge and floats along the top) .There will also be a discussion about mammals and birds found along the river's edge. On 9/30 there will be a workship on Migratory Birds - From 9am to 4pm you will explore the various habitats in the area so you can identiy warblers, raptors, waders, shorebirds and other species. You definitely want to go to this wine festival....Lots of fun, wine tasting, many events, scavenger hunt, Childress Dinner, Brunch....you won't want to miss this. I'll be there with bells on. The Festival starts Friday and ends Sunday....enjoy the peace and serenity of this island retreat...take the ferry...relax and enjoy....Look for me there starting Friday night.

Day 83: Wrightsville Beach Museum of History - this is a great place to take the kids. Located at 303 W. Salisbury Street in Wrightsville Beach your family will have the opportunity to see what the beach looked like 100 years ago. There are lots of pictures to look at. Some of the exhibits include a scale model of Wrightsville Beach 1910, examples of what life was like during the early days at the beach. The museum is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday and this is another thing o do in the Cape Fear Region that is FREE....http://www.wbmuseum.com/
