Love-Em or Hate-Em they are still a very important part of our daily llife.
Trains that is:
Why is it everytime I go to New Braunfels, Texas I catch a train.
I sit, I wait, I'm stuck.
Oh No...here comes another one or two.
Well accept it and say thank you for trains. They are really kinda neat to watch coming and going (except when you are in a hurry to get to an inspection) or have to go to the bathroom or you are thirsty or want to get that check to the bank before they close.
Trains are an important part of our daily life and just think how it would be if we didn't have trains (Oh No...more 18-wheelers on the hiway and roadways).
So, as I sit next time waiting for a train in New Braunfels, TX or San Antonio, TX I am only going to have good thoughts and say THANK YOU FOR TRAINS.

It is time to start winterizing your swimming pool. One thing we have to deal with in our area is not only oak tree acorns falling (if you read my blog about acorns you will understand) but also leaves that are beginning to fall. Normally our oak tree leaves fall in the spring but with the dry summer they are beginning to fall. Please be reminded your pool takes just as much maintenance during off season as it does in season. One thing that can help if you don't have a cover is this leaf catcher.
This leaf net catcher will be helpful to keep your swimming pool clean and can also make your children more aware the pool is off-limits. Please educate your children on pool safety.
One additional thing we always need to remember is entrapment to keep our swimming pool in good working condition and also keeping our children safe.
1. Hair Entrapment - Hair becomes knotted or snagged in an outlet cover
2. Limb Entrapment - A limb sucked or inserted into a opening of a circulation outlet with a broken or missing cover resulting in a mechanical bind or swelling.
3. Body Entrapment - Suction applied to a large portion of the body or limbs resulting in an entrapment.
4. Evisceration/Disembowelment - Suction applied directly to the intestines by a circulation outlet with a broken or missing cover.
5. Mechanical Entrapment - Potential for jewelry, swimsuit, hair decorations, finger, toe, or knuckle to be mechanically caught in an opening of a suction outlet or over.
There are three basic underlying physical phenomena that govern all five modes of entrapment
Suction (or delta pressure), Water flow rate through the outlet or cover, mechanical binding.
Therefore, I encourage you to Winterize your swimming pool but also take precaution to keep your children safe in and off season.

OK - Most everyone knows that I had to rebuild my well or pump house. It has taken awhile with having to also put in a new driveway and sprinkler system is still work in process and will be for awhile. So here goes the pump house update.
BAD....Ummm needs some serious work....Off comes all four sides.
This is Jeff our son that helped. The Hardy is going up, looking good so far. Had some really bad places due to termites and wood ants. This is why we remodeled the whole pump house...
<<<<<<<<<You can see the damage; therefore the job was bigger then we first thought. Jeff's son Daulton also helped, this was a real family project...
Now for the Great Finish....still needs some painting. Ceil is going to redo the inside and says this will be her workshop and I am not allowed in. She is even going to change the lock.
It was a nice project and I am glad the whole family pitched in to help old dad and grandpa. A word to the wise, the minute you see detoriation tend to it right away and don't let it get out of hand. Termits and wood ants can certainly do damage. Check the perimeter of your home and outbuildings on a regular basis.

Another great store just opened in New Braunfels. I did't even realize it had opened until I came out of Lowe's. Did I mention we now have a Lowe's and Home Depot in New Braunfels? A Circuit City, Office Depot and now Office Max. Way to go New Braufnels, another new retail store for New Braunfels, Texas.
Ceil and I went in to take a look around, this is the first time in an Office Max. It is a very nice store and will be in our running path, Office Max, Lowe's and Walmart . Being this close you can just cut through each store parking lot , get your chores done and head for the hills
I did have to whip out my trusty camera and here are a couple of pictures.
