09-09-09 Mango Salsa and Shrimp has nothing at all to do with real estate

Today 09-09-09 Ceil's Blog! We had these down in Rockport, Texas over the weekend

The best ever Shrimp Taco with Mango Salsa for this rainy day in The Texas Hill Country

Yes it is Raining

Shrimp and Mango Salsa Taco's

Small bag of pre-cooked shrimp, defrost, sprinkle with chili powder, salt and pepper. Be sure to drain all liquid. Or you can grill your shrimp.

Mango Salsa:

Chop firm mango, red onion, green pepper an celentro (do not put in a blender), sprinkle with a little fresh lime. You can add a little garlic powder and chili powder but not too much. All these flavors mixed together are wonderful

Warm corn or flour tortilla
Add Sprimp
Mango Salsa on top

This has not one thing to do with home or septic inspections or real estate, but definitely something you can plan for your dinner or as we say in Texas for your supper. Try it, y'all will love these Mango Shrimp Tacos.

This is the best ever. It is easy and delicious.

Free Blog - September 4, 2009 by Carl Winters

Even a realtor gives FREE information, and FREE advice. The same goes for me as an inspector by blogging FREE information. You don't get paid until you have completed the sale or completed the inspection. Think About FREE and where it can lead. FREE IS GOOD IN MY OPINION!

FREE IS A VERY POWERFUL WORD DEPENDING HOW YOU VIEW THESE FOUR LETTERS

The Fair is coming to New Braunfels Texas - Comal County Fair for 2009

If you are new to Comal County Texas you surely need to put this on your calendar of things to do. There is nothing like meeting your neighbors, supporting the kids, and the opportunity to enjoy what a small town community has to offer. There is something for everyone at The Comal County Fair.

2009 Fair dates Sept 22 - 27

(This is just a partial list of things to do at The Comal County Fair)

Our favorite is the food and the live stock show. When our two son's attended Comal I.S.D. Mountain Valley Elementary and Middle School, and Smithson Valley High School they were both in 4-H &Ag. This was one of the greatest family experiences we had as parents. We were just as much involved as our son's.

It's About Family & Your Community

Antique Tractor Pull

BBQ Cook Off

Carnival

Fair Queen

Live Stock Show

Rodeo

Washer Tournament

Wildlife Exhibit

Home and Heritage

Much Much More To See and Do - See Ya at the Fair - The Comal County Fair.

Carl's 2 For 1 - Just like the the 2 For 1 Labor Day Sales, Thank You Active Rain

Short Story of Carl's two inspections because of Active Rain blogs.

This morning the first six emails were Labor Day Sales. Are we being inundated in our own home?

JC Penney

Camping World

Vista Print

HP Shopping

Buy. Com

Sam's Club

Avon

Now is this enticement or what? They are saying we want your money, whether you come into the store or Buy-On-Line. I'm sure if you look at the Email sale items you can find something you want. What I have discovered is the shipping charges, what use to be FREE now has a shipping charges depending on how slow or how fast you want to get your item and how much you spend.

My preference is to shop on line for non clothing items. When it comes to clothes I best go to the corner retail store. If on line, I love to shop items that I can do a comparison price check.

I know you are asking what this has to do with Real Estate, keep reading.

What are your preferences? What are some of your favorite websites? I have purchased from all of the above some time or other so they target me FOR SALE ITEMS. Think we can do that with real estate?

The Labor Day Emails and Sales really has nothing to do with Carl's 2-For-1 story but it reminded me of what just happened. If we had deleted that one Email we would not have gotten a 2-For-1.

Thank U Active Rain!

A short story: Carl did an inspection a week or so ago. A realtor called that had never used him before but found him on Active Rain; Yea for Active Rain! The house was a rental.

When he arrived for the home inspection the renters greeted him and they immediately recognized each other. Yes, these folks were building a new home and Carl was doing the new home phase inspection. This was a fluke meeting. Both were Active Rain related. See the folks that were building also found us through a blog Carl did on a New Home Phase Inspection Blog. However, the request went to the Spam folder for some reason and we almost deleted it. Long story short, don't delete something in error, it may be your next sale or your next home inspection.

In short, this was a TWO- FOR -ONE IN MY EYES. Kind of like some of the emails that are coming into the email box for Labor Day Sales. I like 2-For-l Email's. We hope you get yours this Labor Day Weekend.

If a storm is coming secure the exterior of your home - Part III

If a storm is coming secure the exterior of your home!

During Hurricane Season or even high winds there is potential for catastrophic damages to occur to coastlines and inlands several hundred miles. We all know that damage can occur inland even here in the Texas Hill Country. We sometimes think of living on the coast where damage from wind and water would occur. We all found out different a few years ago.

In Part I we discussed putting together an Emergency Kit.

In Part II we discussed to plan and organize (such as evacuation route, what to take, etc).

In Part III we will discuss preparing the outside (exterior) of your home, whether you stay or leave and some miscellaneous reminders.

Be sure to inspect your supply closet and replenish if necessary. Don't wait until the last minute to purchase your plywood or buy that generator, you may be out of luck. Please remember if they tell you to evacuate, follow those directions. Secure your home and get out.

Secure your windows and doors with plywood cut to fit that particular opening.

You can apply with screws. When the storm is over, remove and store in a dry space.

If you have ready- made shutters this will make securing the outside easier.

5/8" marine plywood is ideal in coastal regions

Trim trees and limbs that are too close to the home. Yes even in the TX Hill Country.

Clean gutters of leaves so water will drain quickly.

Make sure water is able to drain "away" from your home.

Make sure flower beds are able to drain.

Bring pets indoors or secure in a shed or barn on high, dry ground.

Make sure your pets have tags and appropriate information in case they get lost.

If you have a boat make sure it is secured.

Move all lawn furniture indoors.

Leave nothing outside that can be a flying object

Park vehicles in garage.

TV antenna's, flag poles, bird houses should be taken down

Have sand bags ready to put at doorways if necessary.

Lift furniture and appliances as high as possible.

Have a fire extinguisher and generator

Two or more long hoses
