Tony Tours the Towns - Cornelius & Davidson NC Annual Christmas Parade - joined by Huntersville & Concord NC

Another day, another Christmas parade. Today's parade was in Cornelius & Davidson NC. I wanted to be there for 2 reasons:

1- my daughters were marching/dancing in it with Rhythm in Effect Dance School located in Huntersville, NC

2- we used to live in Cornelius, NC so we felt a sort of civic duty to be there

We got there early to drop off my wife and the girls. Then I, with my son and mother-in-law, went to find a place to park and then find a good spot to sit and watch the parade.

We didn't have to wait long for the marchers to arrive....

The weather was a bit chilly, but we took care of that with a little hot

chocolate w/ marshmallows! Hmm Hmm.

"Eat Mor Chikin"

Among the participants were: Police depts, schools, fire depts, dance schools,

churches, beauty contest winners, choirs, and many more.

Rhythm in Effect "my little one"

Now that's cute!

Ah!, there's Christmas!

As always, there were vendors selling cotton candy, candy apples, balloons, whistles, and more.

Everyone had a great time....

Well, maybe not everyone. lol

The Future of Home Prices - When will they go back up?!

us-home-prices.jpg

When can we expect prices to go back up? Isn't that the question of the day year?!

The Wall Street Journal surveyed several economists on this subject. Below is what some of them had to say about the future of the Real Estate market:

- home prices will increase at a rate, roughly, 1% higher than the rate of inflation over a period of time.

- house values will rise an average of 4% per year over the next few decades.

- growth will continue in Southern states (woo-hoo!) and coastal cities. However, it will continue to drop in states such as Ohio, Pennsylvania (west), Michigan, and New York (upstate).

As you can see, there are differing opinions as to what the market will do. One point these economists all had in common was their belief that the impact baby boomers will have on home prices is unknown.

Do you know any baby boomers? If so, what are their thoughts? What will be their actions? Do you have a different opinion to offer concerning when house prices will start seeing an upturn? Let us know.

Tony Tours the Town - Concord NC - Boy Scout Troop 38

A Boy Scout is:

trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

All great qualities I want to see in my son. He is part of Troop 38 out of Poplar Tent Presbyterian Church located at 6881 Poplar Tent Road in Concord NC.

Three times a year, they hold what is called a Court of Honor. This is when the scouts receive pins, patches, and badges they have earned during the prior months.

My son walked away with a Merit badge for Communications and a patch for earning his 1st Class rank (his 4th rank earned in one year!).

All the boys did well.

After the ceremony, the scouts, with their families, sat down to partake in some food and drink supplied by the families.

This is always a great time to meet or catch up with other scouts' parents.

I hope noone noticed I went back for thirds! lol

Troop 38 is run by dedicated leaders. They truly care about the boys and their futures. I couldn't be happier with my son's scouting experience thus far. On occassion, I attend a campout or scout function and I really enjoy myself.

Check out the web site and click on the pics from The Lost Sea trip. Talk about an experience! Actually, check out all the trip pics. You'll see that the boys always have a great time.

Thanks for following my Tour of Concord, NC and look for my next installment to come soon.
