After a fun filled afternoon at the Nascar Speed Park we worked up an appetite. I called the wife and asked her what we should pick up for dinner. She said, " Due Amici's, of course"! Due Amici is located at 5346 A Prosperity Church Road, Charlotte, in the Bi-Lo shopping center.
,
I know, that's not Concord!
Their food is so good, I had to blog about it.
Due Amici has all kinds of Italian food ranging from pizza with all kinds of toppings to eggplant parmagian. Now, I'm not a big fan of eggplant, but their's is delicious! They sell Italian Ices and the best pastries. You'll love the Canolli.
We picked up garlic knots, zeppolis, a few pizzas...
and their amazing chicken roll.
Mangia! Mi amici.
I highly recommend Due Amici for when you have that Italian food craving. You won't regret it!

It's Friday and my brother is going back to NJ tomorrow. We promised the kids a day at Nascar Speed Park and that's just what we did. Nascar Speed Park is located in Concord Mills Mall across from Lowes Home store on Speedway Boulevard.
Upon entering, you are greeted by a store of Nascar memorabilia and souvenirs. Further back is a large arcade. That was our first pit stop (pun intended). After several games of Skeet ball, Donkey Kong, and wall climbing we were revved up (there's that pun thing again) for the fast cars!
The kids piled into the race cars and were ready to roll. They hit the indoor track first. This track spans two levels and forms the number 8. I watched them drive and imagined the time when they would be doing it for real. Oh, the horror!
Then we hit the outside tracks. There are 3 to 4 tracks to choose from. The weather was pretty nice and the lines weren't too long. I decided to join the kids on the next track. I told my brother that every time I get into one of these cars, something goes wrong. This time, I watched as the people ahead of me raced and spotted the fastest car there. I made sure, when it was our turn, to grab that one. Wouldn't you know it, as soon as the attendant gave us the OK to start driving, my car dies! Worse yet, I was holding up 4 or 5 people lined up behind me waiting to take off. He finally got it started and we were off. Of course, the kicker was when I'm driving along and my little 7 year old passes me up with a smile on her face. I always get the worst car!
After running the rest of the tracks we decided it was time to go. On the way out, we came across one of those cardboard cut outs that you stand behind with just your face or head showing and take a picture. I posted the one I thought was the funniest. Enjoy!
At the Nascar Speed Park, a fun time was had by all!

Today's blog is about a great place spend the day....Concord Mills in Concord, NC. It is conveniently located at 8111 Concord Mills Boulevard across from the new Lowes Home Store.
This mall has it all. You can shop, eat, play, even take in a movie.
My brother and his daughter are visiting here from NJ for Thanksgiving. We decided to go out to lunch and I figured Concord Mills would be a fun place for us to take our kids to. The food court there is huge with plenty of choices of food...to satisfy anyone's palette.
The kind of food you can get there varies...some places are:
Burger King
Arthur treachers
Nathans
Sbarros
Cajun Grill
Chilis
Sub Dip
and more....
Smack in the middle of the food court is a beautiful Carousel. For $2, your child can ride on his/her favorite horse. Of course, my 2 daughters had to go on again and again to the tune of about 12 bucks!
After lunch, my son noticed a Wii station at the other side of the food court. Turns out, it is a promotional gimmick. The people at Wii figure they will let patrons see the games, test them, and then, hopefully, buy one. Great idea, actually, to do it in a busy mall at Christmas time! The kids played while my brother and I caught up.
Afterwards, we took a walk around to see what kind of stores were there. My brother was impressed with the variety of places to shop. Some of these are:
Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World
Banana Republic
Nascar Speed Park (we're going back on Friday for this one!)
Children's Place Outlet
Dave & Busters
Books-a-Million/Joe Muggs
The Disney Store
Bed, Bath & Beyond
AMC Theatres
plus many more...
Concord Mills is one of Concord NC's best tourist attractions. I can understand why...we had a great time with the kids and can't wait to get back there.

When we first moved to North Carolina, we settled in Concord. After about three years, we gave Cornelius a try. Still later, we put down roots in Huntersville. In spite of living in all these different places, Concord remains near and dear to my heart.
That's why I decided to start a campaign for Concord. Every time I frequent a restaurant, movie theatre, park, etc, I will write a blog about it. My hope is that people from other parts of the country will read it and know how special Concord NC is.
Attached is the very first inststallment of my blog adequately named-

Perhaps one of the best places to eat in town is the IHOP located at 800 Cloverleaf Parkway, on the Kannapolis/Concord border. My mother-in-law is in town for Thanksgiving and LOVES IHOP! I took this opportunity to make this my very first blog for The Concord Chronicles.
Upon walking in we were immediately seated. The staff was friendly and eager to please. The waitress, named Yong, always with a smile on her face, brought us much needed coffee. She came back a few minutes later to take our order. Don't you love it when the waitstaff is attentive?
It didn't take us long to place our orders. Before we knew it, Yong was back with our food. I asked her to hold still for a moment so I could take her picture for my blog. She was happy to oblige me. What you can't see in this picture is that the camera's battery power was low and it took about a half a minute for the picture to take. Yong was talking through her teeth, saying," Please hurry sir, these plates are heavy".
I felt bad for her, but the blog must go on!
We ate eggs, bacon, toast, grits (yum), orange juice (IHOP's is the best). I had pancakes.
Tony's A1 You Must Try - the pumpkin pancakes - DELICIOUS !! I give them 5 out of 5 *****.
After indulging in a second cup of Joe, I grabbed a few Sweet N Low packets and Grams took a few of the coffee creamers and we went to pay the bill.
At the counter is a sign telling you about their breakfast special...perhaps I'll get that next time...
We enjoyed our breakfast here at IHOP immensely and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal at good prices.
