Now is such an amazing time to buy a home! I am sure most of you already know but in case you are unaware the prices of homes have continued to fall. Interest rates are at an all time low and there is an $8000 tax credit for 1st time home buyers and remember you are also a 1st time home buyer if you have not owned a home in the last 3 years. Talk with your accountant about the benefits of buying a home now! Also there are some great programs that different areas are offering to get buyers to buy... For example the city of Providence is offering 20% down payment assistance and money to rehab your purchase. For more info on city/town programs contact your local housing authority. Also remember you can still by a home with as little as 3.5% down and there are some programs with NO money down, if you qualify. There are also some great 203k loans that make it possible for you to buy a home that needs renovations and get the money to do them.
