WOW! How amazing this is to watch for me! So I hope I can put a pit of a personal spin on it and even make it more enjoyable for you! No Reservations in Montana really brings back the memories for me!
Filmed in my home town of Livingston, Montana, when you see the scenery, maybe that tells you why I'm a down-to-earth, take-you-at-what-you-say kinda guy, and have had to "stiffen up" a bit living in a major cities like Houston, New Orleans, Miami, New York and Atlanta.
Some notes about this segment.....I have a Russell Chatham water color hanging right here in my office!
And I have a series of his paintings in poster format, dated from 1983!
Tom McGuane, the writer mentioned in the video....I interviewed him for a school report in high school!! And I use to ride minibikes with his son. His first wife, is now married to Peter Fonda, and I saw Becky this past June when I was home in Montana!
I've never been to Pinky's...didn't know about it, but intend to on my next trip if its still there?
Hope you enjoy No Reservations in Montana (Part 2 of 5) as much as I have/am!
Forbes Magazine Says Atlanta Among Most Stressful Cities
Things that make you go, "Hmmmmmm?" There might be days I agree with that assessment. And then there are days, like yesterday, that I think not. Some days when I'm working the Midtown Atlanta Real Estate market, I might think twice. Last night, as I sat on the lawn at Stone Mountain Park and enjoyed the last Laser Light Show and Fireworks, I was thinking, "Hey, life could be worse than this."
The article which states that Atlanta is the eighth-largest metropolitan statistical area, had a year-over-year median home-price drop of 24.9 percent and its unemployment was up to 10.7 percent in June. Indeed, we are taking it in the pants with job losses, and our housing prices certainly have fallen. But, I'd certainly look at the overall quality of life and say, "Hey, Atlanta is not such a bad place to live." Heck, I've been here since 1994!
Here's the complete list of the 40 cities listed in the story.

You'll see us right there in the middle. To my friends in LA and NYC, well, what can I say? And to my friends in Dallas, Nashville and Austin, it does not surprize me!

Many of my friends, clients and real estate friends know I grew up in Montana. Any perhaps some of you don't. Unlike my two sisters who still live in my hometown of Livingston (infact they now both have places on what is left of OUR family ranch) I flew the coop as soon as possible. First it was 3 years "over the hill" at Montana State University in Bozeman. Then I really took a leap and move to Houston, Texas and the Hilton College of Hotel And Restaurant Management at the University of Houston.
I've never looked back. Until now. For me, there has been No Reservations in Montana. But just finding this series causes me pause. A moment to reflect on the beauty that is the state of Montana, and Paradise Valley where I grew up.
The first few mountain shots are taken very close to our family ranch (altho only about 17 acres remain) As the lady comments in the video, for my family it was easy to sell off parts to other for pretty good money!)
Please enjoy this tour...and if you ever have plans to visit Montana, be sure to make Livingston a stop on along the way. It's close to the North Entrance to Yellowstone National Park, and you'll travel the length of Paradise Valley from Livingston to Yellowstone.
It makes you wonder what's going on when the Atlanta HUD Office Building is Sold At Foreclosure Auction. Of course, it's not really HUD that is in default, but you gotta love the thought behind it.
In the essence of not getting nailed for copywrite violations...here's a link to the story.

A sign of how the real estate world turns these days!
That's right! It's football season again! And for us Midtowner's our closest college option is Georgia Tech Football! So close in fact, you can walk to the stadium from most places in Midtown! No need to deal with the parking!
Georgia Tech Football "kicks off" this weekend. In case you have not seen the schedule, it is...

Saturday, September 5th against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks
![]()
Thursday, September 10th against Clemson University Tigers
![]()
Saturday, September 26th against University of North Carolina Tarheels
![]()
Saturday, October 17th against the Virginia Tech Hokies

Saturday, November 7th against Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Georgia Tech Football will close out the season with their last game, also at home in Bobby Dodd Stadium with a HUGE cross state matchup with...

Saturday, November 28th against the University of Georgia Bulldogs
I've been thinking about Season Tickets, but have not got around to it. Single game tickets run upwards of $70 each. YES, $70 for a college football game! Who said there was no money in college sports?
For information about tickets to the game, visit the GATech Yellowjackets!
Personally, I love college football over the professional games. These boys are there to win, and while the prospect of a future with a major league team has to be in the back of their minds, there just seems to be more excitement around a college game. And, it usually brings Midtown, and especially the GATech campus to life even more when there is a home game!
Go Yellowjackets!
If you happen to be wandering around Midtown Atlanta, and decided you might want to live in one of those beautiful Midtown condo towers you see, be sure to give The Thom And Ray Team a call! We are just a few blocks from the Georgia Tech Campus!
