This past weekend was the member open golf tournament at Pinehurst and the final round was on course No. 2.
Though it was cloudy on the final round of the Pinehurst Country Club's golf tournament for the members it was still a success and the temps were a comfortable 65-70 degrees. Cool for this time of year though not a deterrent to the players or the staff running the tournament.
Each year Pinehurst holds an open tournament to all of it's members for both the men and the women. There were three divisions for each. The open division was for anyone who wanted to enter and then there was a senior and super senior division for both them men and the women that had age restrictions but there was no discrimination for handicap in any group.

As a Pinehurst Country Club member you get access to golf courses 1 - 6 including No. 2 as well as several clay tennis courts, pools and Lake Pinehurst. You can also participate in the many activities the club offers including the annual Pinehurst Country Club Member Club Golf Championships.

Mid South Club is actually in Southern Pines bordering Pinehurst. It is a gated golf community and the clubhouse offers some of the best views in the area.
Mid South Club has a clubhouse with a grill and members room and a very nice gathering room for members and guests as well as a golf pro shop.
In addition to the clubhouse, there is an eighteen hole signature Arnold Palmer golf course. There are also a couple of tennis courts and a beautiful out door pool and cabana area for members. Membership also includes membership at Talamore Golf Club a mile or two down the road in Southern Pines. Pinehurst is well know for its many golf courses and both Mid South and Talamore have excellent reputations for being well planned and challenging courses.
Membership to the country club is not a requirement for residents of Mid South Club. Property ownership is a requirement if you want to join the club. Memberships can transfer with a property and there are transfer fees depending on the level of membership you choose. This weekend at Pinecrest Lee Auditorium the Pinehurst area's theater group "Moore On Stage" will be performing its final production of the season. (Original Article from FindPinehurstHomes)
Moore On Stage will be performing an original production titled "On the Road to Fame" tonight, Saturday and Sunday (May 27-29) at the Pinecrest High School Auditorium. Friday and Saturday's shows will begin at 7:30 and Sunday will be a matinée at 2:00. Tickets are $22 for adults and $15 for students. Tickets can be reserved at 910-692-7118.
The production will consist of over 75 singers, dancers and actors. Music will consist of show tunes as well as some contemporary pop songs and is suitable for the entire family. The dancers in the production are from the Taylor Dance Company who have studios in both High Point, NC as well as Pinehurst. (Information from The Pilot Newspaper)

Pinehurst No. 6 is a much desired community in Pinehurst and it has a variety of real estate options as well as beautiful views of the golf course.
I remember the day I took this photo of the golf course known as Pinehurst No. 6. It was a beautiful fall day with warm weather and cool shadows making for a lovely scene. Imagine living along this course and enjoying these views every day!
Pinehurst No. 6 is a community in Pinehurst surrounding this golf course which is not adjacent to the main Pinehurst club house and other courses. Even so, as a Pinehurst country club member you would gave access to the main clubhouse and courses No. 1-5 as well as No. 6.
Pinehurst No.6 offers affordable single family homes and condos some higher end homes and everything in between. Currently there are 52 condos or single family homes available. They are as follows:
Residents of Pinehurst No. 6 who choose to become members of the Pinehurst Country Club will have access to the main clubhouse as well as course No. 1-5 including world famous No. 2. It is important to remember that to be a country club member at Pinehurst - you must own real estate within the town limits and No. 6 would qualify for that!
Pinehurst is surely known for its rich golfing culture - but there is also an abundant population of horse owners and equestrian events in the Pinehurst/Southern Pines Area.
Pinehurst has a harness track that is used for training harness race horses in the winter and is also used for a variety of equestrian events such as hunter-jumper shows and dressage shows. There are also a few horse farms in Pinehurst off of Linden Rd just a few minutes from the Village.
Around Pinehurst in other communities there are many horse farms. Southern Pines has a well known area called Horse Country and it is partly due to the Walthour Moss foundation which is a charitable trust that holds many acres of land to preserve the environment and provide a place for equestrian activities. It is currently over 4,000 acres with many trails and has the potential to grow in the future. Some of the equestrian activities in Southern Pines include trail riding on the foundation and fox hunts in the winter (to my knowledge no fox is usually caught!).
In other areas around Pinehurst there are some communities specifically developed for horse farms. These include the gated community of McLendon Hills, Grande Pines, Reynwood and Morganwood. These communities have available horse farms and lots that are available to build your own custom farm. I decided to write this blog after a colleague of mine asked me why I mention horses in some of my blogs and tweets. I didn't get a chance to explain to him that Pinehurst isn't just for golfers and that we have a rich equestrian community in the area.
