The North Carolina Golf Panel released its top 100 golf courses for 2011 and the Pinehurst area has 5 in the top 10 which is another great reason to retire in Pinehurst!
Not surprising for most is that the Pinehurst No. 2 golf course is consistently rated #1 for North Carolina golf courses. And with the Men's and Women'ts US Opens coming to Pinehurst in 2014 to play on No. 2 it is unlikely this ranking will change anytime in the near future.

The 3 remaining course are the Pine Needles course in Southern Pines on which the 2007 Women's US open was played, The Country Club of North Carolina's Dogwood course and Forest Creek Golf Club which is the most exclusive club in the area.

One of the many real estate options in Pinehurst, NC is the gated golf community of National. It offers a country club with an 18 hole Jack Nicholas course, 5 clay tennis courts, pool, clubhouse, pro shop and restaurant.
National Golf Club is less than 5 minutes from the beautiful Village of Pinehurst. It has the eventual possibility of 465 homes with 233 existing homes including condos and single family homes. This number is as of March 2011.
These homes can be found on the golf course or on the water or on an interior lot. Currently there are 33 of these homes available for sale with 6 having sold within the past year. Pinehurst has many real estate options and National -a gated golf community - offers a variety of condos, single family homes and some are and some are not golf front.
As busy as most real estate agents were in March - the Pinehurst area residential sales for April were not reflective of sales resulting it that activity. However - with the lengthy time is takes to close these days we may very well see this activity reflected in May. Whatever the reason for the drop in sales both from last month and the same time a year ago - conditions are still very favorable for buyers. Prices have and still are coming down and interest rates are still below 5%. Though prices for real estate may continue to go down in the Pinehurst/Moore County area - there are still great buying opportunities now with low interest rates and high inventory.
One of the unusual aspects of this chart is the drop in April sales from March of this year. As long as I have been tracking sales in the Pinehurst/Moore County area there has never been a drop from March to April. I am not an economist so I can't provide an explanation for this. I am guessing that we are at the bottom of the market and waiting for overall economic conditions to improve. It could be possible that the rise in gas prices have effected buyers willingness to get back in the real estate market.
Pinewild Country Club is a gated community in Pinehurst with many real estate opportunities.
Pinewild offers golf front homes - lake front homes - and what we call interior homes. The country club offers two eighteen hole courses and a nine hole par 3 course. The Magnolia and the Holly are the 18 hole courses and the 9 hole course is called the Azalea. There is an additional 3 hole challenge course any member can get on without a tee time.
Country Club Membership is not a condition of owning property and owning property is not a condition to be a member. You can save money if there is a transfer membership available instead of purchasing a new membership. Contact me for more information on the fees and costs associated with the membership. This number can change so it isn't advisable to publish that in this forum.
Golf front homes are available on the tee box or the fairway or on the greens. The better the view of the golf course the higher the value of the property. For example, if you have a golf home that looks down the majority of the fairway of a hole then the value of that home would be higher than a similar home with a view of just the tee box. And if there is a water feature (hazard) that might also increase the value of a property.
The other two types of properties which include the water front and the interior homes. Pinewild has a small lake for small electric powered boats or canoeing or kayaking. The water front properties tend to be the highest in value to similar type homes that are not lake front. The interior homes are not situated on the golf course or lake and tend to have lower valuations because of this. However, some people prefer to not have the activity of a golf course or don't want to pay the premium for a lake front.

Pinewild Country Club is considered an upscale gated golf community in Pinehurst, NC and there a several real estate options available.
The Seven Lakes Lions Club is holding is 15th annual golf tournament in the Pinehurst Area at the Seven Lakes Country Club.
Teams will be made up of four players and it can be a men's team or a women's team or mixed. It will be Captains choice with a Shot Gun start at 1:30 on June 5th. The Seven Lakes Country Club has an 18 hole Tufts designed course and is just 10 miles west of Pinehurst and considered by many one of the areas nicest courses.
The cost for each team member is $70 and there will be a variety of prizes including cash and golf equipment for a hole-in-one on designated holes - and other prizes for teams and raffles as well as a closest pin prize. Proceeds from this Pinehurst area golf tournament will go towards the Lions Club's on going charity activities to help the Sight and Hearing impaired.
