Whenever I have the time-- or good excuse -- I like to cruise into Lake Oswego.
My "excuse" today was:"Darn, I'm out of bread." Combining that with my desire to blog about one of my favorite bakeries, St. Honoré I headed out.
DO YOU BLAME ME? Delicious . . .
But I kept I shunned the goodies, and got my loaf of bread.
A lovely selectionof Baguettes, Ficelle (seeded or plain), Couronne, Parisian, Petits Pains Auvergnat, and Fendu. Their "specialty" breads, and what I go for is the "Miche" bread, a hearty "shepard's" style break with whole grains, natural level start, which turns our a dense, rich and full of terroir flavor! They even let this bread "age" for a day to get the flavors rounded through each loaf. But there are other breads: Raisin & Fennel Benoitons, Cranberry Hazelnut.

Back to the pastries . . . I swear . . . I didn't partake. But I did get one of the Casse Croute (traditional French baguette sandwich). Again, sticking to my tried-and-true I purchased the Brie aux Fines Herbs -- a baguette with chives, parsley butter, double-creme Brie, frisée green leaves, cucumbers and toasted almond slices.
The Soups Du Jour: Tomato/Basil/Coconut and Curry/Eggplant/Lentil. And I typically get a small cup with my Casse Croute, but at temps over 90F, I passed.
If you want to take a nice trip into Lake Oswego, or if you already live there, or are contemplating, take yourself into the HEART of downtown and visit a Boulangerie by the Lake!

"Supra Lockbox Activity - Updated Through August 9, 20009
After a few down weeks, lockbox activity rebounded in the week of August 3-9 compared to the prior week." cited: RMLS
The lockbox is the magic access key that keeps statistics, and as you can see, there has been a PLUS in activity. In a nutshell, listing showings are up, on average of 8.8%. Some of the decline from couple of weeks ago was due to the heat, I suspect. The Metro Portland area had a really blistery hot heat wave. And, we looking at some more hot weather by week's end. Might bring the showing number down -- we'll see. When the statistics showed a decrease in the percentage to Supra LockBox activity a few weeks ago, I just assumed it was due to the heat. But, as the quote above states, there is a tilt upward now.
BUYERS: What that means for you . . . the properties you have interest in might be getting shown -- to other buyers. These showings are for the RMLS Supra lockbox in the state.
SELLERS: Check and see with your listing agent if the STAT above, of 8.8% increase is holding true with your property. Might be time to re-evaluate pricing??

"Supra Lockbox Activity - Updated Through August 2
Downward trend continues Comparing July 20, 2009 through August 2, 2009 the number of times RMLST subscribers opened Supra lockboxes decreased 15% in Washington and 5.4% in Oregon." cited: RMLS
The lockbox is the magic access key that keeps statistics, and a "downward trend" is continuing. In a nutshell, listings aren't that active right now! Some of the decline a couple of weeks ago was due to the heat, I suspect. The Metro Portland area was in a really blistery hot heat wave. When the statistics showed a decrease in the percentage to Supra LockBox activity a few weeks ago, I just assumed it was due to the heat. But, as the quote above states, there is a continuing downward trend. Last week was a good cool week, and showings were down 5.4%
BUYERS: What that means for you . . . the properties you have interest in might not be getting the activity levels the Sellers would like to see. Insert Happy Face here!!
SELLERS: It might have been because of the heat, so wait and see what is happening. Now is a good time to talk to your listing agent about SPECIFIC showings of your listing. Has the level of showings increased or followed the trend?
