Well I just returned from Billy Burke's class "Secrets of an AARE Auctioneer", wow what a class. If you have ever thought about taking a class like this, this is the one!! Just to be able to have the contracts that he uses are worth alot more than the cost of the course. He outlines step by step how to deal with sellers and buyers, it is truly amazing. We have been selling some Real Estate at auction, but now I realize that we have been approaching it all wrong. The program was originally developed to be used only by auction listing agents who work exclusively for my company.
The problem with the exclusivity was, auctioneers wanted to get my processes, forms, contracts, techniques etc. but did not want to be tied into channeling 100% of their real estate auctions through me. That is an objection that I totally understand but I did not want to 'give my playbook' to the competition, which is something that you all understand too.
Realtors have been knocking at my door wanting me to teach them about real estate auctions but like auctioneers they think they can do it all themselves and don't want to share the deals or commissions with us. Kind of the same mentality as with the auctioneers and being one who earns about 10% from every real estate transaction without any splits, exclusivity to be trained is something I would not want to do either.
I am a student of the industry and have purchased every book, training program that I could find and have attended more real estate and auction seminars and workshops than I care to remember. My research has shown that outside of the National Auctioneers Association's Accredited Auctioneer of Real Estate (AARE) certification program there is nothing on the market today designed to teach the real estate professional the A to Z of real estate auctions.

This training program is not only beneficial to realtors and the general real estate public but a number of auctioneers whom I have worked with, blog with and asked for feedback on the program are ready to fly to Maryland for the first session!
WOW all I asked for was a little feedback from a few industry professionals I know, some who think the right to use my Uniform Standard Real Estate Auction Listing agreement is worth ten times what we are charging for the workshop.
The listing agreement cost me about $100,000.00 in legal fees to develop and another $10 million in trial and error field use while we have been 'vetting' it over the past five-years and its simply 'The Industry Standard' for listing real estate auctions but until now was only available to our agents

The cost is $395.00 per person which is cheaper than any other real estate auction training program in the marketplace and its the only one (again outside AARE) that was developed by a certified auctioneer with 'in the field experience' who has had to eat what he kills so to speak.
The only other ways to get this type of real estate auction training are:
1) Trial and error and as stated above you can learn from the $10 million in mistakes I have made.
2) Purchase a franchise in California or Colorado for $25,000 to $100,000
3) Attend AARE for a week at a cost of about $2,500.00 (worth every penny by the way)
4) Attend the NAR auction workshop prepared by realtors without any real input from auctioneers and taught by realtors with zero marketing experience. The course was given really *BAD* reviews by people who have attended both the courses and the 'Train the Trainer' sessions but since they are realtors don't want to be named.
5) Sign up for any number of "Learn how to sell your home in 5-days" programs on the Internet, again prepared by realtors and people with little to no auction experience for $500 to $1,500 or pay www.auctionmentoring.com $10,000.00 to be a listing agent.
6) Get a job with an established auction company that offers real estate auction services and mentor at a low wage or split commission while you are learning, maybe even sign a non-compete as part of your employment agreement.
