Helping a Friend with Leukemia
Las Vegas, NV (Grassroots Newswire) January 1, 2011 --

Exit Realty Chima Group, Broker/Owner, Vandana Chima, hosted a bone marrow drive on Saturday, January 1st, 2011 at the Hindu Temple of Las Vegas. The drive was initiated in an attempt to find a bone marrow donor for Sonia Rai, a friend of Chima's from California. Sonia Rai, at the age of 24-years-old was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML), which is a cancer of the blood. Rai is receiving excellent care at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston where she is undergoing intense chemotherapy but is in urgent need of a bone marrow transplant to survive beyone the next few months.

"Her diagnosis caught us all by surprise and we are all trying to beat the clock and set up as many drives as possible, as quickly as possible...not just to help Sonia but to also build more awareness amongst South Asians which in turn will help out our entire community," Chima said.

In her efforts, Chima was accompanied with friends, Pia Jackson, Joe Wittenwiler of Country Financial, Roni Kerfien of Roni Deutch Tax Center and many of the other Exit Realty Brokers and Owners in Nevada including, Sherry Thens of Exit Realty Unlimited, Tanya Kovacheva of Exit Realty Imoti, Doug Yates and Mark Cunningham of Exit Las Vegas Realty Center as well as Regional Owner of Exit Realty Nevada, Brandon Roberts. According to Chima, there will be several more drives in Las Vegas, NV and throughout the country.
