Just as you come to Bearcreek from the East and on the right hand side of highway 308 is Sage Massage.
Bearcreek is a very small town with 99 residents just 7 miles East of Red Lodge and 6 miles West of Belfry.
One of those residents is Threse Fuchs, a Certified Massage Therapist. She is well know by locals for the terrific Swedish massages she gives. I recently experienced a massage session by Therese.
First of all, you can not help but notice Therese's beautiful garden as you walk in to her home.
The flowers and plants seem to be thriving all around and inside her house as if they are feeding off the positive energy which seems to emanate from her place.
You walk in to her massage studio and you get captivated by all the wonderful decorations on the walls, the green plants, the oil and aromatherapy scents.
As you get ready for your massage, you get to listen to soothing sounds of the rain forest and of birds chirping on a CD.
The rest is difficult to describe into words but once Therese starts working on you with her hands, massaging your body and detecting and giving special attention to those sore spots, you just get carried away into a different world. You forget about your worries, you lose track of time so much you are relaxed.
I recommend anyone living in or visiting Carbon County to treat them-self for a massage at Sage Massage. Your body will thank you. I felt good for quite some time after my massage. Her hands worked wonders for me and I would say she has healing hands as some of the tense and sore spots I had got cured.
Therese not only specializes in Swedish massage but she also does pre and perinatal, cranial sacral therapy.
Make sure that you plan ahead. Therese is quite a hit with locals and you need to reserve weeks in advance if you want to experience a great massage at Sage Massage.
To book a massage with Threse, call (406) 446-2238.
Note: I will update this post in the future to include a photo of Therese as well as a photo of the beautifully decorated massage room (with permission of the owner of course).
The photo above was taken at the Rock Creek Resort, 5 miles South of Red Lodge. It was modified using Picasa to enhance the colors and the fairy tale lighting.

Rock Creek Resort and Old Piney Dell Restaurant - A Beautiful Retreat and Dining Experience Just South of Red Lodge, Montana
Rock Creek Resort is located 5 miles south of Red Lodge, Montana on Highway 212.
The resort is composed of rooms in four main buildings: The Beartooth Lodge, The Twin Elk, the Rock Creek townhomes, the Grizzly Condos. My favorite is the rooms in the Grizzly Condos who are right next to Rock Creek. You get to comfortably stay in one of the many nicely furnished rooms with complete kitchens, fireplaces and color televisions. You can also chose to stay at the Stoney Cabin which is part of the resort.
You will love to hear the soothing sounds of the creek outside the window and you will get to admire the wonderful view of the creek and mountains from your private balcony.
If you are looking to have a good dining experience. Look no further! The resort has a well known restaurant call the Old Piney Dell. This restaurant and bar has a very cozy atmosphere and you can admire the great views of Rock Creek if you decide to sit at one of the tablesnear the window or the big glass doors.
The restaurant is popular with locals as well as tourists. The restaurant is open seven days a week in the summer starting at 5:30pm and from Wednesday to Sunday at 5:30pm in the winter (Labor Day to Memorial Day). The restaurant is also well known for its Sunday brunch which are served from 9:00am to 1:00pm year round.
They are a variety of interesting activities to do at the resort. You can take advantage of the many on-property facilities such as the health club with a heated swimming pool, jacuzzi, exercise room and sauna. If you are looking at outdoor activities, you have plenty of choice with the tennis courts, soccer field, playground, volleyball sand court, horseshoes, and a catch/release fishing pond.

Bull Moose on the Run in Red Lodge
The following is the first photo of a bull moose to make it into my Moose Monday from Montana.
I took this photo in October 2008. This bull moose was caught running in the Grizzly Peak Mountain Homes subdivision, in beautiful Red Lodge, Montana. I think he was camera shy. In the background is Mount Maurice.
Next week, I will share a more close-up photo of this bull moose.

Good Food and Great Entertainement! Dinner and Pig Races in Bearcreek
This is a post that I have been meaning to write for the past 2 months. Let's say that the Localism challenge was a good excuse to finally write it.
In the little town of Bearcreek, Montana, population 99 people, just 7 miles East of Red Lodge on highway 308, there is a great restaurant/bar/casino where the locals and tourists like to hang out and watch pig races. Yes, I did say pig races! When was the last time you have been to the pig races? If you have never been to a pig race, you got to go to the Bearcreek Saloon and Steakhouse on Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday to enjoy this great entertainment and while you are there you can bet on a pig. Half the proceeds for each race go to the winner and the other half goes to charity (towards the scholarship for one or two lucky recipients).
I have the pleasure to take friends and family who came to visit me in Red Lodge to the pig races and every single one of them loved the pig races. The motto of the BearCreek Saloon is "Where Pigs Really Do Fly".
The restaurant is know for it's prime rib. If you are looking to eat and want to try something different, let me suggest the Buffalo Rib Eye. You can check their menu by clicking the following link: http://www.redlodge.com/bearcreek/BearCreek_Menu.pdf
If you are not hungry, you can go relax and have a drink at their bar or take your drink with you outside on their large balcony to watch the pig races. Everyone needs to experience the pig races at least once!
The following is some of the photos I took of the pig races.
