Life work balance...

I just returned from an invigorating weekend at my brother & sister (in-laws) home. I put in-laws in parenthesis because they just don't feel like 'in-laws'. We surprised my sister-in-law for her 30th birthday! They only live 45 minutes away but, being there felt like being a continent away --- away from work and stress and the daily minutia that can bring you down. Corning NY

The view of their "back 40", as we loving refer to it, can give you an idea of why it's so rejuvenating to spend time there and with them. We had fun playing games, eating"Kan Jam" backyard game birthday cake and sitting around a camp fire.

I think the toughest thing in this business is to find a balance between work and family and a ‘life'. We can all get caught up in the stats and push and push until we find ourselves burnt out and a little bitter at the whole business. Getting away -- from TV's, computers, cell phones-- can really do wonders for your soul.

It's okay to take a day off every now and then and spend time with family without feeling guilty. I've realized that my job was here before me, will be here after me, and everything won't fall apart when I'm not there.

I'm just glad I realized it at the age of 30.

Real Estate in Autumn

It's that time of year when things start to "slow" down for some agents. I am happy to report that things are not slowing down for us in Ithaca NY. It seems the spring market came a little later this year and we are happy to be busy into the fall season.

It's also that time of year when it's easy to get into a rut when it comes to business - the last of the summer weather is upon us and that makes it a little more difficult to want to work or want to be inside the office. So I wanted to share some testimonials to inspire and rejuvinate that entreprenurial spirit that may start to lay in hibernation this time of year....

Ithaca house

"Our experience with buying and selling a house was definitely interesting to say the least but all worked out in the long run. Thanks for your patience...I would recommend you to anyone. People are still amazed that we got our house for just about asking price and "stole" the new house. That left us with enough money to buy this garage. Thank you and I'll be calling you in about 8 years to sell this house." - Mike D.

"...thanks for all your work with the house. I have definately realized that REALTORS do not have an easy job...it is a very up and down process..." -Emily W.

"...I think we got exactly what the property was worth and I am very happy with the way the whole process went...!" - Corey M

"...I truly appreciate all you did for us. Craig said we really didn't need a REALTOR for our house sale but he was wrong..." - Maureen B. "Thanks for all your patience, time, and help. we appreciated all you have done for us in helping to find our new home. You made it easy. " - Gerri D.
