GL Homes of Sunrise, Florida recently closed on 1068 acres of land west of Delray Beach. Bucking the trend of most home builders in this market GL Homes took falling land values as an opportunity as opposed to a setback.
GL Homes has a huge presence in western parts of Delray Beach and Boynton Beach. Almost all of the new contruction in the area is being built by this privately held company. This includes any property in Palm Beach County with names that begin with Canyon or Valencia
You might have heard of Canyon Springs, Canyon Isles, and Canyon Lakes all of which feature new construction 4, 5, 6, and 7 bedroom single family homes from $500,000 to $1,000,000. These properties are for people of all ages and offer state of the art fitness centers, tennis, children's activity centers, and more.
The Valencia collection consists of Valencia Pointe, Valencia Isles, Valencia Lakes, and Valencia Falls. These are all active-adult communities with stunning 2, 3, and 4 bedroom single family homes from $300,000 to mid-$600,000s. All of the Valencia communities feature huge clubhouses featuring grand ballrooms internet cafes, resistence pools, basketball, tennis, and more.
This last GL community is near and dear to me because I am in the process of purchasing one after I get married in July. Greystone offers generous floorplans and affordable prices. With almost 5 acres of recreation has a nice clubhouse with gym and heated pool, miles of walking paths, and gated entry. This is a mixed community with 554 new construction 3 and 4 bedroom single family houses and townhouses from $300,000 to the mid-$400,00s.
All of these communites are very centrally located near the Boynton Beach Blvd exit of the Turnpike and just a few miles from the hot spots and restaurants of Atlantic Avenue.
These are also around the corner from the... you guessed it... Canyon Town Center. A 200,000 sqft avenue-style shopping plaza with an ecclectic mix of merchants. This is going to be one of the premier shopping and dining destinations of southwest Palm Beach County.
I am glad to say that real estate in Palm Aire is looking great this week. So far this week, we have sold four properties, three of which were in Palm Aire. The other was a house in Oakland Park. We are also starting to see a turnaround in phone calls and the number of keys that are going out with the agents who show our properties.
It might be a random fluxuation, but we are glad to see that buyers are interesting in buying property in Pompano Beach once again.
As a real estate office that has been in Pompano for twenty years, we understand that there are good periods and bad ones, but if you position yourself properly, work hard and maintain a reputation of quality service and ethics you can survive. I truly believe that.
It is the smart person who turns adversity into opportunity.

Last night my fiancee and I went to Canyon, one of the absolute best restaurants in Fort Lauderdale. We discovered Canyon about a year and a half ago on Zagat's, the restaurant rating system and fell in love with it upon first bite.
Located in the coolest section of Fort Lauderdale next to the Gateway theater on Sunrise Blvd (just west of the Galleria Mall) Canyon is one of the many establishments there worth patronizing. If you have a to wait and you have ecclectic tastes in furniture and clothing, be sure to walk around the adjacent plaza for some fo the neatest stores that you can find in South Florida. I recommend that you do not go after 8:30/9 unless you want to wait for an hour, becasue they do not take reservations.
I begin every expereience there with their signature drink, the Prickly Pear Margarita (shown below)
I have never had a bite of food here that didn't make me close my eyes and cherish every morsel on my tounge. This is not regular food, Chef Alvaro Santos makes southwest fusion dishes that are divine.
We ordered the special venison appetizer which came on a sort of corn cake and upon first taste I cut the rest up into tiny pieces to prolong the expereience of eating it.
For my main course I went for my favorite dish there, the jalepeno panko crusted jumbo shrimp with coconut curry black bean sauce and toasted cumin scented rice. It might sound like an overwhelming amount of flavor on the page, but I tell you that the taste is out of this world.
Every dish I have experienced in Canyon is phenomenal, but I have only ever ordered one dessert. It was the first dessert that Lindsey and I ever had there and it is so remarkably good that we just don't have it in us to try a different dessert. That of course is the chocolate bread pudding, even if you don't like bread pudding (like me) you will flip over this dish.

Royal Point is Palm Aire's newest properties. One 55 unit building was already completed in 2007 (3600 Oaks Clubhouse Dr) and the other building at 3500 Oaks Clubhouse Dr will be complete later this year by Lennar.
