Nashville's Bellevue Center to Become Lifestyle Center

Nashville's Bellevue Center Mall

The Bellevue Center Mall has been sold to a California firm, Foursquare Properties, for $28 million dollars. Foursquare plans to transform the mall into an open-air lifestyle center with major retail anchors. There are plans are six restaurants and office and retail space to be developed. Macy's department store will remain at the site.

Smyrna TN's Nissan Plant to Make Suzuki Trucks.

Nissan North America in Smyrna, TN will build a midsize Suzuki truck.  The truck will be based on the Nissan Frontier truck and production will begin in 2008.  There are currently no plans to add workers to the Smyrna plant to facilitate the Suzuki production.  This is the first time that a non-Nissan product will be built at a Nissan factory in the U.S.  The Smyrna Nissan plant also builds the Altima, Xterra, Pathfinder, and the Maxima.

Smyrna TN Approves Red Robin Restaurant and Residence Inn Hotel.

The Smyrna TN Planning Commission has approved site plans for a Red Robin Gourmet Burgers restaurantRed Robin will be located next to Famous Dave's on Industrial Blvd.  The company spokesperson had no opening date for the restaurant.  Site plans were also approved for a 109-room Residence Inn to be located next to Kohl's in the Colonial Village Shopping Center.  Groundbreaking has already taken place for the 80-room Holiday Inn Express that will be located off of Sam Ridley Pkwy at the corner of Breslin Avenue and Highwood Boulevard.

Smyrna Housing Authority Opens New Senior Housing Apartments.

The Smyrna Housing Authority recently opened new senior housing apartments at Meadowlawn Manor. Meadowlawn Manor was originally opend in 1981 with additions added in 1999 and 2004. With a cost of 1.5 million, this newest set of apartments are 670 square foot, one-bedroom units that will rent for about $300 a month. Residents must be at least 62 years old with a monthly income of less than $1,250. The units feature washer & dryer hookups and a walk-in closet.

Smyrna Tennessee - Top Ten Places to Retire.

Smyrna Tennessee is one of the top 10 places in the county to retire as reported by U.S. News & World Report in the October 2007 issue. The list was compiled using criteria such as access to health care, climate, crime rate, cost of living, and cultural and recreational activities. Located just a 20 minute drive from Nashville, Smyrna is a small town with big city amenities.
