After what has seemed like an eternity of waiting, the proposed Olympic View Marina project is finally moving forward. County Commissioners approved an amendment to the shoreline master plan, changing the existing zoning anomaly from conservancy to rural, allowing the the construction of the new marina to commence. The developers hope to begin the dismantling of the existing marina soon. Completion of the new marina will no doubt have a huge positive impact on the local economy and further improve property valuations in the immediate area.

My lovely wife, Janice, works out regularly at a local gym, West Coast Fitness, in nearby Bremerton WA. All during our 25+ years of marriage, she's always worked hard to keep herself healthy and physically fit.
Most mornings she's joined by two other women, Lisa and Karen. All three of them work within the Central Kitsap School District. I usually tag along with my wife, spending 45 minutes on the elliptical listening to my iPod, while the three of them yak on endlessly.
Yesterday afternoon, Lisa's husband, John, went to the gym to use the elliptical, just like I do.
A short while into his work-out, John collapsed to the floor from a massive heart attack.
A student nurse happened to be working out at the same time and immediately began to administer CPR. The paramedics arrived and administered the defibrillator 5 times before a heart beat could be re-established. He was rushed to nearby Harrison Hospital where Doctors attempted clear the blood flow to his heart and stabilize his vitals.
His current prognosis isn't very good. He's in a cardiogenic coma. His brain went a very long time without oxygen.
Janice and I spent several heart-wrenching hours last night at the hospital. Lisa and John have a daughter and son the same ages as our older two kids. Their son, Alec, was overwhelmed with grief and cried so hard that he threw up.
There is so much in life we take for granted. Especially the love, support, and commitment of those closest to us.
There are no guarantees in this life about the length of our days. None of us is immune from pain, suffering, or death.
"And now I have a word for you who brashly announce, "Today—at the latest, tomorrow—we're off to such and such a city for the year. We're going to start a business and make a lot of money." You don't know the first thing about tomorrow. You're nothing but a wisp of fog, catching a brief bit of sun before disappearing. Instead, make it a habit to say, "If the Master wills it and we're still alive, we'll do this or that." James 4:13-15 (The Message)
UPDATE:
They performed a neuro scan on John this morning. There is no brain activity. They will be removing life support later today.
Hug your loved ones; tell them each and every day that they are loved and demonstrate that love in meaningful ways. Embrace each new day and live as if it were your last!....
UPDATE:
John was declared dead at 11am today. May God sustain and comfort his family....
