Plans moving forward for the Union Cross Towne Centre in Kernersville

Located on an 85 acre site at the intersection of Union Cross Road and I-40 in Kernersville, The Union Cross Towne Centre will be a mixed-use development consisting of retail, hotel, restaurants, and some residential. According to the developer, the center will have five natural water features, courtyards with seating and a well landscaped streetscape.
The Union Cross Towne Centre will serve a market that has had an increase of 13,000+ housing units within a five mile radius of the site in less than two years. A new Interchange for the Union Cross exit on I-40 will be constructed by NCDOT.
Plans include 244,000 square feet of retail on the first level, 100,000 square feet of apartments and office space on the second floor, up to 200 villas/town homes, multiple restaurant sites, one hotel site, a 16 screen movie theater, a drug store and a bank site. Two companies have already announced: Hampton Inn, and Rite Aid drug stores.
The Union Cross Towne Centre will be a great new addition to this part of Kernersville!

Kernersville celebrates the re-opening of Main Street, with a street party on Saturday October 18 from 10am until 2pm.
Main Street through downtown Kernersville re-opened on October 3, after being closed since June 17. The 1.66 million dollar project included water and sewer mains replacement, as well as complete reconstruction of the road bed. Power lines were moved to the rear of buildings, and new sidewalks and street lights put a final touch on the project.
The Kernersville Downtown Preservation and Development Council hopes that the street party will bring people downtown to see the new streetscape, and also get people into downtown businesses that will be open following the ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:30am. You can also expect to enjoy music, concerts, food and children's activities.
