Congratulations to my friend and fellow worker, Tina Christein. She has just ended her term as President of TNAMB (Tennessee National Association of Mortgage Brokers). It has been a challenging year for all
mortgage brokers and for the associations that represent us.
Some of the issues have been originator licensing, loss of membership from closed mortgage brokers, loss of lenders and programs, tightening mortgage lending guidelines, changing disclosure requirements, HVCC appraisal guidelines, Congressional and HUD scrutiny on lender paid premiums.
Tina has worked hard, focusing on strengthening the state association. She will now act in a new capacity of Immediate Past President.
Chip Langley, another Chattanoogan and also a friend, has taken over as President.
Here is the TNAMB press release.
Tina Christein with American Acceptance Mortgage in Hixson was installed earlier this month as the Immediate Past President with the Tennessee Association of Mortgage Professionals for the next year. The Tennessee Association of Mortgage Professionals, chartered in 1995, is the only statewide industry-supported association dedicated to advancing the knowledge and understanding of the mortgage broker and banker profession throughout the state of Tennessee. In doing so, TNAMP strives to educate and inform the public, legislators and government agency officials regarding the many valuable services and benefits mortgage professionals provide to home loan borrowers.
Tina Christein continues to serve as a leader in the mortgage profession in Tennessee in advancing the level of professionalism in the mortgage industry. Recently, the state of Tennessee joined many other states around the country requiring licensing, fingerprinting, background checks, testing, pre-licensure course work and continuing education for all residential mortgage professionals regulated by the State of Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions. TNAMP has been the driving force to put these additional professional requirements in place by the Tennessee Legislature and Governor over the past 12-18 months. The goal of TNAMP is assure all Tennesseans that all state-regulated mortgage professionals are trained, tested, checked-out and up-to-date when helping their customers with their mortgage transaction.
Tina Christein can be reached in Chattanooga at 423-899-6898 or TChristein@AAMonline.com. The Tennessee Association of Mortgage Professionals can be contacted at 615-302-0001 or at www.TNAMP.com.
Top on the list of customer complaints about loan originators is "Returning Phone Calls." Yes, it is still
apparently a customer service problem iin our industry.
One of our loan officers at American Acceptance Mortgage, Sandy Houston, told me today that she had a received a call from a new client a few days ago. The customer had called another company and asked about an FHA loan. Evidently the loan officer went straight to the application, but never called back.
She later called the manager, who promised to call her back the next day. No call back.
She called Sandy, two days ago.
Sandy did not jump to the application. She discussed the client's wants. She reviewed program options. She was able to make a real estate agent referral. She made certain that the client had all of her objectives and questions addressed. Sandy then set up a time to call back.
She followed up with the real estate agent who got the referral.
She followed up with the
client.
The client was happy with the real estate agent referral, and she asked for an application package. She thanked Sandy for the help and all the information.
Now Sandy has the full application, and an approved loan. Waiting for the real estate agent with the referred buyer to find an house.
Sandy is my hero.
Way to go Sandy.
