07/07/09: Robin's opinion of current Market Conditions in Hendersonville, Asheville, Brevard and Surrounding Local Area
June's statistics don't show much improvement over April's and our very strong buyers market continues with a lot of inventory for buyers to choose from as even more sellers, short sales and foreclosures have been added to our local market. Sellers continue to lower their prices adjusting for current market conditions and some sellers, depending on their circumstances, are willing to accept even a lesser sales price to close a deal. In any event, all prices are negotiable.
We were hoping for a much stronger deal for the housing market from the Stimulus Package. That evidently is not how it ended up and is much smaller and isn't for ALL buyers but limited to first time home buyers, etc, etc. But, the $8,000 tax credit for first time home buyers could be beneficial for many who qualify. In this market there are great deals to be made and it could be very worthwhile for the consumer to check with the financial folks to see how the tax breaks could benefit them in 2009 for tax purposes.
Hendersonville and Western NC is a beautiful area that has a lot to offer and if you are considering a real estate purchase it could be worth your while to come take a look while inventory is so plentiful. Interest rates are beginning to inch up but still remains low. Our local community banks are very viable and have money to loan for qualified buyers -- if you would like information on these Banks let me know.
With current property prices, high inventory levels and still low interest rates this is a great time to purchase property!
Please email, Robin@NC-Hendersonville.com or call me at 1-828-231-5069 if I can be of real estate service to you for info on our local market.

I imagine that the subject of asparagus isn't toooooooo exciting to most folks. But, for we who look forward to "the Season" -- we eagerly anticipate knowing its arrived.
When my husband and I lived in the Charles Town, W. Virginia area asparagus grew wild along the sides of our hilly roads. During "the Season" you would find many a folks out along the roads with knife and plastic bags reaping the harvest. We tried some and it was good, but, I/we prefer the domestic (after all I prepare it.)
In any event my husband and I both enjoy asparagus and have been consuming quite a bit of it from the local super markets.
Now we can purchase it locally grown at Danny McConnell's Farm and it also signals the beginning of the growing season at the farm for many delights to come. We're eagerly looking forward to the farms fantastic strawberries, etc.
There was a local article in the Hendersonville-Times News with an article on the McConnell farm and asparagus. He's one of the only farmers locally to attempt growing asparagus and they have cultivated 9 acres of it!! I never realized what it took to grow asparagus. Asparagus is a perennial and it takes 3 to 5 years before it produces -- a real challenge!. But, once you can get it established it will/can flourish.
The farm is now picking this veggie daily and it's available at the stand when it opens at 9AM. As the secret has gotten out he has faithful customers waiting at 7AM to purchase before it is all gone.
He charges $3.50 a lb. which is a good deal higher than in the super markets which imports from South America because they are subsidized by the U.S. Government. But, if you want to experience the taste of fresh (yuuuuuumy) it is a bargain -- not for every day but a treat!
Marvin and I will enjoy some tomorrow.
