Dolores and I always enjoy our visits to Longwood Gardens, in Kennett Square, PA. Current visitors will see and enjoy the annual Orchid Extravaganza and the thousands of beautiful flowers and plants in the Conservatory.

The Conservatory at Longwood Gardens is a very inviting travel destination on cold winter days. Take you family, with cameras in hand, and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Brookside Gardens is one of our favorite places to visit in Montgomery County, Maryland. Dolores and I like to attend the flower shows, the exhibits in the Conservatory and take walks through the gardens when the flowers are blooming.

If you live in the area and have not been to Brookside Gardens, now is the time to see and enjoy the Spring Exhibit that is now featured in the Conservatory. Admission is free and you will enjoy the experience. Brookside Gardens is located in the Wheaton Regional Park.

The photographs below were taken during the Dahlia Show sponsored by the National Capital Dahlia Society at Brookside Gardens.

Be sure to have your camera in hand to capture those special moments when you are out and about in your community or during your travels. Life is better when there are flowers to photograph.

MAR 2013 Fair Housing Poster Contest

2011 Montgomery County Winner

Fair Housing matters to GCAAR . . . and children, that's why we need your help to reach out to Montgomery County students (public, private, or home schooled) to draw posters demonstrating how important fair housing is to their families.

Deadline to submit entries is Wednesday, February 15!

Our 2013 Fair Housing Poster Contest theme is: "Fair Housing Lives in Maryland." The contest requires students (kindergarten through 8th grade) to submit a poster based on the fair housing theme. Each student who participates in the contest will receive a certificate, and winning posters will be featured in a Fair Housing Calendar distributed nationally. All winners will be honored at a reception at the State House in Annapolis during Fair Housing Month in April.

Thank you for spreading the message on the importance of Fair Housing in Maryland.
