These shots are from River Day 2008, which was held in May. The Cuyahoga River is making such a spectacular comeback. This event draws volunteers and citizens who have helped and continue to help the river again be enjoyed by wildlife and humans.
The celebration this year in Munroe Falls offered volunteer opportunities, a farmer's market, a petting zoo, live animals, food and treats served by Friends of the Park as they raise funds to support the park, live music, cornhole games, a book sale, a visit by Smokey the Bear, exhibits and OEPA fish population sampling demo.
There was also a sausage and pancake breakfast, and lunch was served.
Friends of the Park is looking for volunteers. Come enjoy the river and have fun improving the environment!

Our Metro Parks in Summit County make us proud - they are well-maintained and utilized by our residents. This summer, grab the kids and head over to Munroe Falls Metro Park for a refreshing dip and a memorable day. Adult admission is $4, kids are $3, and little ones under 2 are free. The lake features sandy beaches and grassy lawn for sunning. There are also trails, beautiful rare examples of trees and plants due to the sandy soil conditions, and pavilions which can be rented.
Enjoy lake swimming, now through August 24, at Munroe Falls. The swim area is open daily, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. A season pass is available online now through July 15. For directions, to learn more or to order your swim pass (good at Munroe Falls and Silver Creek), click here:

During swim season, an admission fee or season pass is required to enter Munroe Falls Metro Park, even if you just wish to walk or sightsee. It's worth it - and I recommend that you bring your camera!
