River Day 2008 and Friends of the Park

These shots are from River Day 2008, which was held in May. The Cuyahoga River is making such a spectacular comeback. This event draws volunteers and citizens who have helped and continue to help the river again be enjoyed by wildlife and humans.

The celebration this year in Munroe Falls offered volunteer opportunities, a farmer's market, a petting zoo, live animals, food and treats served by Friends of the Park as they raise funds to support the park, live music, cornhole games, a book sale, a visit by Smokey the Bear, exhibits and OEPA fish population sampling demo.

There was also a sausage and pancake breakfast, and lunch was served.

Friends of the Park is looking for volunteers. Come enjoy the river and have fun improving the environment!

Swimming In Munroe Falls, Ohio

Munroe Falls Park

Our Metro Parks in Summit County make us proud - they are well-maintained and utilized by our residents. This summer, grab the kids and head over to Munroe Falls Metro Park for a refreshing dip and a memorable day. Adult admission is $4, kids are $3, and little ones under 2 are free. The lake features sandy beaches and grassy lawn for sunning. There are also trails, beautiful rare examples of trees and plants due to the sandy soil conditions, and pavilions which can be rented.

Enjoy lake swimming, now through August 24, at Munroe Falls. The swim area is open daily, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. A season pass is available online now through July 15. For directions, to learn more or to order your swim pass (good at Munroe Falls and Silver Creek), click here:

http://www.summitmetroparks.org/getdoc/a15e10c1-0a0f-4be7-861f-95fcfe761dd5/MunroeFalls.aspx

During swim season, an admission fee or season pass is required to enter Munroe Falls Metro Park, even if you just wish to walk or sightsee. It's worth it - and I recommend that you bring your camera!

A Few Reasons To Love The Steeplechase in Munroe Falls, Ohio

There are many beautiful neighborhoods in Summit County, and here's some insight to one...

The Steeplechase, Munroe Falls, OH

The Steeplechase

The Steeplechase is one development which has lived up to its potential. Here are some not-so-obvious reasons why:

  • The 153 properties are well maintained and manicured.
  • The trees, which are quite a status symbol in suburban settings, are tall and healthy.
  • Our pear-tree lined streets are one of the jaw-dropping sights in spring. This year's show was superb! Check it out!
  • There is only one way in and out of The Steeplechase, so it is a very peaceful setting.
  • We aren't directly in the flight path of an airport, the trains are heard faintly in the distance and traffic noise is very minimal.
  • We have sidewalks, and many of the residents walk or run everyday.
  • It's very kid-friendly.
  • We usually only have a few houses for sale at any given time.
  • Many families living here are original owners who built in the 80s and early 90s.
  • Our mandatory annual dues is only $50.
  • Our homeowner's association sponsors events regularly, such as the neighborhood garage sales, hayride, swim party, bowling and annual block party.
  • We do a beautiful Christmas luminary show every year, lining the streets with candles that glow all night on Christmas Eve. It's spectacular! Take a tour yourself!
  • We have a directory to keep in touch with one another.
  • We have a blog to keep updated on local events: http://thesteeplechase.wordpress.com
  • We are in an excellent school system.
  • We are centrally located to Akron and Cleveland, making for very short commutes.

If you would like to see some of the beautiful homes for sale in The Steeplechase, call me today @330-990-4236 and I will be glad to show you around!
