The End of Summer....the Beginning of a New School Year.

Well, it was quite a summer.....so cold in the beginning and then the incredible heat and humidity for a couple of weeks.

But, I am not complaining....no hurricanes, no drought, no wildfires, no tornadoes. We did have some straight line wind damages to our home and many of our neighbors. And, we live amongst the trees, lots and lots of trees which can help or hurt depending on where they are and how easy they come down.

But, that aside, what an eventful time we had as a family....and my wife and I actually got a Road Trip in on the bike for a couple of days, a great trip to California, and lots of lake time at friends and my dad's place.

So, looking back it was pretty good despite "working" with the banks on all the short sales.

Sometimes you just need to get away to get some perspective and let off some steam!

Hope you all had great summers, too!

Nowthen Threshing Show

There is a little town near Elk River and Zimmerman called Nowthen....yes, really.

It was named because a former mayor, would always say at council meetings, "Well, now then....."

At least that is the story. In front of one business, there are still posts where you can tie up your horse for a bit while you have a refreshing lemonade....or something.

But, the biggest event is Nowthen is the Threshing Show....and I apologize for not posting about this earlier.

It was held August 19–21, and the memories for some are decades old.

The threshing show is a three-day event where guests can watch demonstrations such as corn chopping, blacksmithing and grain threshing. There is also a restored school, church, log buildings, general store, steam house and many other buildings. to go through. Tractor pulls, children’s activities, the Parade of Power and a petting zoo offer many options for every member of the family during the weekend.

Each year the threshing show designates a brand of tractor and engine to feature for the show. They are the spotlight during the Parade of Power and usually result in a larger number and variety of these tractors and engines and give that particular type the opportunity to shine. This year featured the John Deere tractors and International gas engines. The tractor pull held on Friday featured antique and classic tractors and Saturday night featured classic tractors.

There are old-time treats to try and a good history lesson for the kids and adults alike.

So, I will try to get this posted earlier next year, but check it out in late August. It is a fun time for the whole family.

What Are YOU Waiting For.....It Is TIME!

My dog, Lefty, never misses a mealtime.

Are you going to miss the best time in history to buy a home? If you rent with roommates, and you are paying rent to someone else, wouldn't it make sense to buy your own home....continue with the roommates paying rent to make your payment and own something great in the end? Just sayin"

So, when you are ready to look at what you can afford and want to buy, let me know. I have a lot of experience with first-time buyers.

The Codgers - What a Riot!

This is an excerpt from their blog post. They are no longer Rainmakers, and so you can just reblog their posts.

But, they had a series going in the early years of the Rain that had quite a following, they are still in the top 25....not having posted much in years and years.

So, without further adieu, here the last segment from their series.....
