Guffey is one of the best mountain communities in Colorado.

Guffey, Colorado is a quaint little mountain town located off of Hwy 9 and Park County Road 102 in Park county Colorado (altitude of 8600 ft.). The Royal Gorge outside of Canon City is down the road on Hwy. 9 to Hwy. 50. Cripple Creek is back up the road into Teller County. The central location of this small community makes it an ideal spot to live in a peaceful setting with the conveniences of the city nearby.

Mountain cabins, traditional residences, green and solar homes, large land tracts and stunning Mountain Trophy homes are all available in this area of Colorado. Many unique opportunities exist in the area. If you are looking for a quiet mountain setting with a few good neighbors then Guffey may be the paradise that you have been missing.
Guffey sits in a Caldera, a cauldron-like volcanic feature usually formed by the collapse of land following a volcanic eruption. You will find the hill ouside of town on CR 102 is quite steep but the views of the Peak to the East are stunning. Eleven Mile Reservoir and Spinney Reservoir are only a few miles away. Mountain views, beautiful sunsets and all varieties of wildlife are plentiful in the region.
Rita’s Café is a nice place to stop for a cup of coffee, a sandwich, or a few of Rita’s delicious pastries for the road. If you need heartier food and drinks then stop in at the Freshwater Saloon and enjoy a cold beer and onion rings. If you stay a little later you can often catch some local live music.
Guffey is more than a stop on a day trip. The community and the surrounding outlying area have over 500 year round residents. A charter school is also located in town in addition to the Library and Community center. The Library has become so popular that an addition to the building is currently u
nder construction. Linda at the Post Office in town will make sure to forward your mail if you aren’t a year round resident.

Divide and Cripple Creek are new stops on The Ute Pass Express commuter line which has expanded its' services. The shuttle bus service has added these new hot stop spots for Teller county residents . The Ute Pass Express began its' mountain transit program on November 10th 2008 . The service offers over 15 buses each day with
intermediate stops in Manitou Springs, Cascade, and Green Mountain Falls. You can enjoy a relaxing, reliable, and well priced ride. The Ute Pass Express offers Wi Fi so you can catch up on the news, finish a little paper work or shut down for a snooze, while you are chauffeured for your commute time.
Improved Connections to Mountain Metro! New Service to Divide!
Based on recent passenger and community survey results, the following
schedule became EFFECTIVE MONDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2009.
Sixty percent of all Teller County and 40 percent of Woodland Park residents commute to Colorado Springs to work each week. Some of them now take the Ute Pass Express to and from downtown Colorado Springs. I expect with the new stops more will be taking advantage of the service. If you buy one of the multi-ride 20-, 30-, or 40- time passes along with the new 31-day pass you will be able to transfer to fixed-route buses at the downtown terminal for free.
Mountain Shuttle Passes are available at Colorado Springs Ute Pass Express via Secure Server. Detailed information about the success and future plans for the program was published in September of 2009 approximately one year after the initial inception of the transit program.
I have to say the the Ute Pass Express project has generated much community interest. One the reasons for adding the stops in Divide and Cripple Creek has been the area residents' desire to add additional stops in more outlying communities. My orginal blog from last year about this subject has created a 66% clicks from views ratios. More and more people are seeking ways to make living in the outlying areas surrounding Colorado Springs a more viable option. The new commuter line in Teller county serves the needs for reliable, affordable, and convenient commuter and resident transportation.

It is always Christmas time in Colorado. Yes, the snow does melt in most places except the highest peaks. But, an often missed attraction is Santa's Workshop at the base of Pikes Peak. The family themed North Pole park has something for everyone. Santa's workshop has a unique history and is over 50 years old. March 10, 1955 marks the day that the 25 acre Santa’s Workshop was planned to be built on the slopes of Pikes Peak. The project was based on another similar attraction built in Lake Placid, NY.
The kids can meet Santa Claus and his elves(year round) and all family members will enjoy the unique
Christmas Tree ride. You can also partake of a classical ride on the antique carousel. An Aerial Tram will allow you to ride through the clouds or for the less adventurous the Miniature Train is still a small thrill. The park boast two dozen family-friendly rides. You can feed the goats and llamas, or watch the magic show. Village shops are stocked with gifts which can make early or seasonal holiday shopping a breeze.
And if Christmas in Colorado at Santa's Workshop isn't enough of a fill for the family then head up the Pikes Peak Highway. Pikes Peak stands at an altitude of 14,110 ft. above sea level. The highway is open year round as the weather permits. Check the website at Pikes Peak Highway for times as they vary from season to season. A discount coupon is available at the website and is good until the end of the year. Don't forget your jacket or coat, otherwise you may end up sporting a Pikes Peak sweatshirt for the rest of the day. It can be cold even in the summer.
Toll Road $10.00 per adult (16 and over $5.00 per child - (6 - 15) or total $35.00 per car up to 7 passengers.
If you are planning to be in the area choose one or both of these attractions. The experience will last a lifetime.
