Good Old Fashioned Town Square!

Fallbrook Village Square

Ever stroll through a new town and discover a hidden treasure? Today I revisited a not so new (to me) town... Fallbrook!

I often forget the beauty of our downtown. Today I wanted to share one of my favorite spots. Our beautiful town square. We call if the Village Square because we are know as the friendly village!

Here are my favorite memories of Fallbrook's Village Square:

  • In December the village square features a luminous Christmas Tree with it's own Christmas Tree lighting ceremony, horse drawn carriage rides and carolers.
  • Fallbrook Farmers Market is held in the Village Square every Friday from 10:00-2:00
  • The Village Square makes a great central Meeting area for our annual Avocado Festival held every April to showcase our beloved avocados
  • The Village Square offers a great spot to people watch on the benches while eating frozen yogurt
  • My favorite part of the villlage square are the cherry trees that are in blossom now! They are just gorgeous!

The Fallbrook Town Square is located on the corner of Main and Alvarado Streets.

Wait Was The Magic Word That Worked It's Wonders In 2008!

For the past 2 years I have said or heard that blasted 4 letter word way to much, WAIT!

"Wait for a better deal" I would say.

"I want to wait for cheaper prices" I'd hear a client say.

Sometimes I wanted to scream. I'm sick of waiting, but then again I was the one saying wait wasn't I?

My favorite example of waiting working (and there have been many in the past few months) is with buyers I have been helping since 2007. I am so happy to report that the wait is over. The last time I said wait to them was September of 2008.

My clients sold their home in 2005. They took every penny that they made on that sale and stashed it away. They have been renters for almost 4 years now. Some would say that they've wasted 4 years of rent money, but not my friends. They've been hoping and planning for today.

Back in September they wanted to start looking for a home. They planned to cap their purchase at $500,000. They would put 75% down and finance the other 25%. They were comfortable, but I wasn't. I said I really thought that unless we found their "dream home", we should wait and see if prices keep falling (which I knew they would) and maybe we could find the perfect home and they could pay cash, aka. NO MORTGAGE!

I showed them graphs, I showed them data, I showed them homes! I showed them declining prices and increasing value. I showed them I worked for them and that my only goal was their happiness.

We looked, we researched and they decided to casually look while we waited again!

Well, I am happy to report that waiting worked! We are now going to be really looking again and we'll be looking in their cash price range and they are happy!

Neither of us care if it takes a little more waiting to find the right home for them, because it's already been proven that that little four letter word WAIT... works!!!

Come and Visit The Bonsall Farmers Market!

Today was another beautiful Fallbrook / Bonsall day and I couldn't stand the thought of staying inside. We headed out around 11:00am with no destination decided.

We rolled down the window and opened the sunroof and off we went. As we headed down the road we saw the following sign and knew where we were going to go.

Farmers Market

We pulled into the parking lot of the new Bonsall Elementary School and could smell the fresh bread! We decided that we would walk up and down all the rows and then come back by the booths that we wanted to buy something from.

The top favorites of the day were...

  • Nutella crepes. They had many other choices like breakfast crepes, but I guess we're minimalists in my family because we all opted for the original Nutella ones!
  • Fresh baked bread. Need I say more?
  • Straight from the garden asparagus and artichokes
  • Homemade pita bread and hummus
  • Gourmet chips and salsa
  • $1 old fashion hot dogs
  • organic meat or vegetarian tacos
  • a wide variety of jerky's
  • sweet smelling lotions, potions and soaps (okay maybe there were no potions)
  • various homemade crafts, sewing projects and more vegetables fresh from local farmers

The best part of all is that the farmers market benefits our local schools. Not only can you get a really good price on some really great stuff, it helps the community!

The Bonsall Farmers Market is open on Sundays from 9:30-1:30 in the lower parking lot of the new school. More info. can be found at http://www.bonsallschools.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=54&Itemid=13
