Hello Folks,
From the first of May until the end of October every year is Stingray season on the beaches of Southwest Florida. The first thing most locals will tell you is to 'Shuffle" your feet as you walk in the surf. By shuffling your feet, you will scare off any stingrays before you have a chance to step on them.
This mornings walk in the calm surf along Bonita Beach revealed numerous stingrays. It doesn't matter how big or small they are, if you step on them they will nail you with the barb in their tail out of defense.
Hello Folks,
Well, I shall confess ..... It is awesome to be living in paradise!!!! Not many places in the United States or even the World where a person can watch sunset on a nightly bases as they set over a large body of water.
Tonight's adventures were on the Southern end of Fort Myers Beach. I started out at the Holiday Inn and then walked north up the beach.
Here are some pics from tonight's adventure ......
Picture below is looking back at the Holiday Inn from the beach. The Holiday Inn is the building in the Green Roofs.
This section of Fort Myers Beach is extremely wide.
Hope you have enjoyed the photos.
Howdy folks,
The last sunset of the month for May turned out to be quite nie. This past week was a loosy week for watching sunsets due to all the rain we have had in the area. As everyone knows, each sunset is different, so is each day spent walking the beach. As the tides rise and fall they either wash away sand or deposit more sand on the beach. The wave action also brings in shells or washes them back out into the gulf.
Below are some picture from tonights visit to the beach right before sunset......
Here is a view looking south toward the end of Barefoot Beach at Wiggins Pass..

Hello Folks,
Went out to Barefoot Beach to check out this evening sunset. Unfortunately, sunset wasn't very exciting since the sun ended up slipping behind a bank of clouds, but the walk on the beach was still quite nice. Sunset and Low Tide ended up being at the same time of day, which made walking the beach quite nice.
Below is a picture of a Duck on the beach. In 20+ years of walking the beaches down here, I have never seen a Duck on the beach, but HEY ... there is a first for everything.

Below is a picture of a Stingray in the water. From May 1st to October 1st is Stingray Season on the Gulf Coast Beaches. If you are wading out into the water it is best to shuffle your feet so that you do not step on these guys. They can be quite painfull.

Hello Folks,
Hope everyone is having a nice and relaxing Memorial Day. While you are out gathing with family and friends, or relaxing in your home, please remember our soldier past and current. It is because of these brave men and women that we are able to enjoy the freedoms that was have. Unfortunately 'Freedom" does not come easy and comes at a high cost to maintain.
As one of our freedomes is the ability of any American to go where they wish whenever they wish. I choose to visit the beach quite often. It is a great way to relax, enjoy nature and get some exercise.
Here are a few pics from this morning visit to Bonita Beach, Florida...
Below is a picture of the fin from a Dolphin. This Momma Dolphin was swimming with her baby just off the beach. Unfortunately my camera is not very fast when it comes to taking a picture so i was not able to catch the baby with momma.
Below is a photo of a few of the beach shacks along Barefoot Beach, Not sure how people can live in such small dwellings. LOL
HHHmm, I was quite tempted to swim out, jump on board and take one of these for a ride, but then reconsidered after think about the second ride I would be getting going downtown.
Hope everyone has an enjoyable Memorial Day.
