Barefoot Beach Florida 5-21-2009

May 21, 2009

Hello Folks,

Went out to Barefoot Beach this evening to watch the sunset and get a little exercise walking the beach. Here are a few pictures from this evening visit.....

This first picture is of a Sea Turtle's nest which has been protected. It is not uncommon for communities along the gulf coast to have volunteer groups that patrol the beach early each morning looking for fresh Turtle nests. When found they tape off the nest and put a screen over it to protect the eggs from Raccoons and other animals. Sea Turtle nesting season starts the first of May.

Below is a Fiddler Crab. Our beaches in Southwest Florida do not have many of these.

Hello Folks,

Beautiful morning for a walk on the beach.

The last two days have been filled with gray skies and lots of rain, so going to the beach was not a possibility, unless I wanted to walk in the rain, which isn't my idea of fun. Got out to the beach at about 7:15am and was surprised at how few people were on the beach. I could probably count all the people within sight on one hand.

Here are a few pics for your please........

South Beach & Miami - May 17, 2009 - Awww, Ain't He a Cute Lizard ????

Hello Folks,

Took a little trip over to Miami to check out South Beach an the Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden. Weather was very nice, sunny skies and a cool breeze which made the day quite comfortable. Started off the day at the Botanical Garden which is located in the Coral Gables area of Miami.

The Tropical Botanical Garden was a nice place, but not quite what I was expecting. Many exotic plants AND animals. The Botanical Garden is loaded full of Iguanas and other unusual reptiles.

The photo abaove is of a Green Iguana and the one below is from an unknown Lizard which is Native to Africa. Below Lizard is Yellow, Blue Body and striped tail.
Quite Unusual.

****Update ... The Lizard below is an African Redheaded Agama ****
This full grown adult is roughy 12 inches long.

Below are pictures from South Beach. The beach was PACKED with people..... Thousands of People.
