This is my first winter as a Munsey Park, Manhasset resident. I was very excited last night at the thought of waking up to several inches of snow this morning. What a disappointment! I was hoping to take my wife and 8 year old son sledding. The question of course is where are the best places to go sledding in the area? I heard that many families go to the Munsey Park Elementary School. However I have also heard that if you want more adventurous hills there is a park in Flower Hill between Stonytown Road and Bonnie Heights Road. I would love to hear where some of your family's favorite spots are before the next snow storm.
Parking in Great Neck is a commodity. Proximity to the train station and the ability to find parking has influenced many of the buyers I have worked with in their decision to purchase a home.
The Great Neck Park District owns and manages three commuter lots. There is a daily fee to park in those lots. You may purchase a daily ticket from the Dunkin Donuts across from the train station or buy a monthly or annual parking sticker. An annual ticket is a 13% saving. An annual ticket is $635, a monthly ticket is $60 and a daily ticket is $3.50.
Residents of multiple dwellings in Great Neck Plaza are eligible to obtain a permit to park in the municipal garages on Plaza Centre and on Maple Drive. Only one permit per household is permitted. The current cost is $90 per quarter. Probably the least expensive parking in Great Neck!
Street parking permits are also available to residents of multiple dwellings within the Village of Great Neck Plaza. This permit exempts you from the three hour parking limit between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on the un-metered streets in the Village of Great Neck Plaza. Great Neck Plaza also issues special street parking permits to residents of single-family homes. These permits are slightly different, so please contact the Village Hall at 516-482-4500 for further information.
