ReDesigners Go Green

Redesigning a room is all about using what the client already owns, so naturally it fits right in with the reduce * reuse * recycle mindset that is increasingly popular. The following article was recently written by Val Sharp (Founder & past President of the Canadian ReDesigners Association) and myself in an effort to further promote the redesign industry in Canada.

Outdoor Decor for Fall

Autumn has arrived with all its splendor and you can still enjoy the use of your outdoor rooms, even when the evenings turn chilly. The addition of a clay Chiminea or copper fire pot will add warmth and create wonderful atmosphere for you and your guests. A few cozy and colorful blankets draped over the Muskoka chairs will look inviting. Large ornamental lanterns will brighten your pathways. Several potted mums and a few cheery pumpkins will serve as your accessory pieces.

Now bring on the spiced apple cider or a steaming bowl of carrot soup to warm the soul. Everyone will be happy to spend an hour or two outside for an enjoyable evening.

Enjoy !

Spring Cleaning

Can you feel the energy of a new season emerging all around you? The days are longer, the birds are singing every morning. It certainly is my favourite time of year.

I feel inspired to do something around the house, but you can bet cleaning isn't exactly my first choice. Painting perhaps - a cool shade of crisp linen or fresh mint. A cleansing of the mind maybe - clearing the clutter that accumulates over the long, hard winter.

Whatever it is that you choose to do - be sure it gives you a sense of freedom and lightness. Get rid of a burden or two. Add something bright and cheery to each room.
