Wine Party - Relaxing Sunday Afternoon @ Corkscrew

Want to have a Relaxing, Lazy Sunday afternoon at a Wine Drinking Party? C'mon to the Corkscrew June 7th, 2009 at 5pm. It's located in Birkdale Village right next to Fox and Hound. RSVP at http://www.lknwinegroup.com 

We are having a lot of fun with these Sunday afternoons! It's still light and sunny outside and plenty of space for us to roam around. Plenty of great discussion.....Sometimes we eat dinner afterwards at Eez or Red Rocks.

Casual attire. Relax. Great Conversation. Meet New People.

It will be a great way for people to really connect with a smaller, cozier group, while having a lot of fun. And remember, you are responsible for your own tab!

There will be "by the glass" and "bottle" specials for our group!

Italian Wine Tasting at Campania Cafe

The event in May was such a hit that Nancy DiGiorgio, co-owner of the Campania Cafe Italian Restaurant and Gourmet market, a cozy restaurant in the heart of Davidson, wants our group back for the tasting in June. Ciro has promised to try to serve wines exclusively from Sicily this time. For those who were unable to attend the May event, I encourage you to read the comments from it. I am happy to give our group the opportunity to try some truly excellent, but relatively inexpensive ($15-$30 a bottle) wines. The price for the event is $15, payable when you arrive, and in addition to the 5 wines served, a small individual appetizer tray with olives, salamis, bruschetta, and other assorted goodies will be served for each participant.

The event is hosted by Mr. Ciro Marino. 
- He is one of the owners of Campania Cafe's wine distributor, Vino Vino. 
- He is formerly the chef/owner of the outstanding Campania restaurant in Pineville-Matthews area of Charlotte.
- He grew up in Los Angeles, working and learning in his uncle's restaurants, which are well-known in LA. 
- Being Italian, he has lived in Italy for a good part of his life and enjoys sharing his knowledge of Italian wines.

Directions: From I-77 take exit 28 at Cornelius and go east (away from the lake) on Catawba Ave towards Old Statesville Rd. Catawba Ave ends at Old Statesville Rd. Turn left onto Old Statesville Rd and go about 0.6 miles and Campania Cafe will be on the left.

I have been to three of the tastings at this restaurant and I can tell you Ciro brings extensive knowledge and understanding of Italian wine making to the event, but not to the point where a wine novice like myself feels overwhelmed. The wines being served are not found at Total Wine or in grocery stores, you'll want to purchase bottles and take them home for later enjoyment, as many of our attendees at the May event did!

Wine Drinking and Dancing Entertainment - Cornelius - Havana BB

Wow! this is one of the coolest events EVER!!! I spoke with the management at Havana Banquet & Ballroom, and they would love to host our Lake Norman Wine Club! They want to provide some wine, fun, and entertainment --including a professional DANCE performance! RSVP at www.lknwinegroup.com

We are calling it a "Salsa Dance and Wine Social". You will get to drink Latin wines and learn some Latin dances if you want. We will also be doing other styles of dances that night.

There will not be a tasting but Havana will feature 5 Latin American wines at $5 a glass (mixes of whites and reds). They will also provide some cheese and crackers for snacking! And for the entertainment..........

We will be having a "free" group dance class that begins at 8:30pm and we will ALSO have a professional performance by the resident dancers at 10:00. BUT, Don't feel like you have to participate in the free group lesson! Just come and watch and be entertained! I am going to have a ton of fun with this!
