Dentist Visits - Santa Clarita Goes Back To School

As a dentist in Santa Clarita I see many of my patients at this time of year because they know the school year has begun. This means that they will be busy with all types of activities between now and the holidays and may not have the time to schedule their appointment with me before the first of the year. It is a good feeling to know that you have had your checkup and cleaning before jumping in to the new year and season.

If your family is caught up with the 'back to school' rush, don't let the next couple of months pass by without a visit to your family dentist. An emergency visit is never any fun, so it's best to stay on top of things and get off to a healthy start.

Valencia Dentist - Sugary Treats And Your Teeth

Your teeth will last longer and stay strong if you limit the amount of sugary treats you eat. You must also brush and floss immediately after eating or drinking foods that are high in sugar. Here in Valencia, my patients and their families are concerned with cavities and tooth decay, and I always recommend to eat sugar in moderation, choose sugar-free gum and candy when possible, and think about what you and your family eat and drink on a regular basis.

Santa Clarita Dentist Weighs in on Halloween And Your Teeth

As a dentist in Santa Clarita, I can tell you that Halloween always brings me new patients. It's my goal to minimize the negative effect of candy to my patient's teeth. It isn't just the kids that suffer each year with this.

Any type of sticky, gooey food that is left on the teeth for even a few hours will cause problems down the road. It seems like Halloween brings out the kid in all of us. We bit into candy apples, hard candy, and even eat peanut brittle and taffy. All of this is very hard on the teeth, and as a result I see cracked, chipped, and broken teeth more often after Halloween than at any other time of the year.

This can all be avoided if we just use good common sense at this time of the year. If you would not usually eat something because of the potential damage to your teeth, don't eat it now, either. And remember to brush and floss slowly and carefully on Halloween night. You and your family can still have fun while thinking of your dental health as well.

What do you plan on giving out this Halloween?

Link Between Gum Disease and Heart Disease - Is There Anything To This?

Sticky, bacteria-laden plaque can build up between your teeth and gums over time if you don't brush and floss daily, and this leads to gum disease. Research is now suggesting that this will lead to inflammation within your body, which, in turn, may escalate your chances for heart disease.

Remember that this research is still in the preliminary stages, but suffice it to say that brushing and flossing is always a good idea. It can also be very soothing to floss after eating, and this can lead to a reduction of stress.

Is Your Dentist In Santa Clarita?

Having a dentist whose office is convenient to where you are during the day may make the difference in how often you go for checkups. My new office is located in Valencia, a section of the city of Santa Clarita, and I have found that many of my patients appreciate being in close proximity to the office.

Whether you live or work in the Santa Clarita Valley or not, make sure to keep up your dental health with regular checkups and twice daily brushing and flossing to keep your appealing smile. Your dentist and your clients will thank you for this.
